As the beloved trot singer Song Dae-kwan has passed away, fellow singer Tae Jin-ah, who shared the era with him, expressed his grief.
On the 7th, Song Dae-kwan's agency, Star Lineup Entertainment, announced, “Song Dae-kwan passed away from a heart attack around 10 AM.”
According to sources, the late Song Dae-kwan had been hospitalized the day before due to poor condition but suddenly passed away that morning. It was reported that he had no underlying health issues.
Tae Jin-ah expressed deep sorrow over the sudden passing of Song Dae-kwan. He stated to My Daily, “We spoke just a month ago. We asked each other how we were doing. I asked, ‘Are you doing well, brother?’” expressing his regret.
Tae Jin-ah also mentioned, “I was taking care of my wife Ok-gyeong, so I prepared her breakfast and dozed off for a bit. Then I woke up to the news,” adding, “I need to hurry to the funeral home.”
Born in 1946, Song Dae-kwan debuted in 1967 with “The Kind Uncle.” After a period of obscurity, he reached his peak in 1975 with the hit “The Day the Sun Rises,” and that same year, he was crowned the King of Singers. He left behind numerous hit songs, including “One Ticket,” “Four Beats,” and “Popular Song.” He was known as one of the “Four Kings of Trot” alongside Tae Jin-ah, Seol Woon-do, and the late Hyun-cheol.
The late Song Dae-kwan's funeral will be held at the Seoul National University Hospital funeral hall.
