The subway advertisement featuring actors Byun Woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon has been removed due to complaints.
On the 22nd, the fan voting service Giftree posted a notice on their website stating, “We would like to explain the circumstances regarding the suspension of the advertisement featuring Byun Woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon, who ranked first in the November season voting on January 17th (Friday).”
Giftree explained, “After the advertisement was posted, more than 40 complaints were received by the transportation corporation asking, ‘Why are they together?’ Due to the internal policy of the transportation corporation, any complaint, even one, necessitates the suspension of the advertisement, which is why it was urgently halted.”
They continued, “We attempted to resume the advertisement, but it was impossible due to ongoing complaints. We sought understanding from the designer and modified the design, but it was rejected for the same reason at all subway stations, including the Konkuk University Station.” They added, “The transportation corporation and the review committee suggested a plan where Byun Woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon would each appear for 10 seconds, hoping to replace it with a different design, but we have received responses that ongoing complaints make it impossible to proceed with the advertisement.”
They stated, “We have received a warning from the transportation corporation through an official document that due to the continuous complaints, it may be difficult to execute advertisements through Giftree in the future.”
Giftree also urged, “If these complaints continue, it may be difficult for Byun Woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon to have any advertisements, not just through us, but for all subway advertisements. We sincerely ask fans to stop the complaints with a little more understanding.”
Byun Woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon, who received great love last year for “Jumping with Seon-jae,” ranked first in the voting for “drama couples we want to see again.” As a reward for ranking first, their advertisement was scheduled to be displayed at Konkuk University Station from January 13 to 27.
