Former member of the group Baby V.O.X, Lee Gai, has shared her recent updates after 20 years.
Lee Gai recently left a comment on a YouTube channel of a netizen that featured old videos of Baby V.O.X. Lee Gai, who joined Baby V.O.X in 1998, reduced her age by 10 years while active, but left the team in 1999 when her real age was revealed.
"I was active as Lee Hee-jung, Lee Ji-soo, and Lee Gai," she began, "Now I live under a different name. These days, I've been receiving calls from broadcasting companies, and they even come to the restaurant where I used to work, so I’ve been taking a break from work," she opened up.
She continued, "I think about it as all my fault for the things that have already passed. I have never lived a single day comfortably while deceiving my fan club and the public. Now, 20 years later, I can finally talk about it, but I lived in silence, unable to speak about it anywhere," adding, "Seeing my Baby V.O.X friends performing beautifully on stage brought back some old memories."
She also mentioned the reason for deceiving her age during her time with Baby V.O.X. She explained that she was originally preparing for a female version of the group Rula, but things went awry when she suffered a serious injury while dancing.
Lee Gai recalled, "The president told me to just trust him and put me among much younger members. No matter how I looked at it, I was an older woman among kids," and added, "You can't live after committing a sin; as the saying goes, you can't cover the sky with your palm, and I got caught and had to leave."
She reminisced, "I had an injury from before, and whenever I danced a little, I would get inflammation in my feet, which was painful. But Lee Ji-soo took care of me and helped me, which was comforting. She was very affectionate, and when I was leaving, she cried and begged me not to go, asking what she would do. Even after leaving, we promised to keep in touch, but I couldn't do that, as I have my own conscience. Still, I want to protect and take care of the younger members, and seeing them perform beautifully on stage again recently makes me so happy."
Meanwhile, Baby V.O.X recently made headlines by performing as a complete group at the KBS Song Festival.
