The Netflix series ‘Squid Game 2’ revealed behind-the-scenes stories through YouTube.
On the 1st, Netflix Korea released a reaction video featuring Lee Byung-hun and other actors from ‘Squid Game 2’, including Lee Jung-jae, Kang Ha-neul, Lee Seo-hwan, and Jo Yu-ri, on its official YouTube channel.
In the video, Lee Byung-hun drew attention to the scene where he slaps his own cheek hard after failing at the top-spinning game during the five-person competition.
Lee Byung-hun reflected, “When we shot that scene, I actually slapped myself hard. I remember the director wanted to avoid NGs as much as possible, so I think we did it about three times.” He added with a laugh, “It wasn’t that he was worried I would get hurt, but rather that I might bruise and it wouldn’t be coverable with makeup.”
Lee Seo-hwan commented on Lee Byung-hun’s top-spinning scene, saying, “The senior made an NG because he had to fail at the top-spinning, but he did it too well. He just threw it, and it spun. Even if he threw it with his eyes closed, it spun well, and even when he threw it carelessly backward, it still spun well, which led to continuous NGs.”
Lee Byung-hun explained, “A few months before filming, I received that top from the production company and practiced tying it quickly and throwing it to succeed, which I think helped during the shoot.”
‘Squid Game’ Season 2, which received mixed reviews, was ranked as the most-watched content on Netflix in its first week of release.
According to Netflix's official site ‘Netflix Top 10’ on the 1st, the viewing time for the original series ‘Squid Game 2’ was recorded at 487.6 million hours during the fourth week of December (23rd to 29th). The number of views, divided by the total runtime (7 hours and 10 minutes), was 68 million.
It ranked first in the non-English TV category while also showing an overwhelming viewing gap compared to the English TV category and both English and non-English film categories during the same period.
