On the 30th, he posted a photo of chrysanthemums on his SNS account and wrote, “I express my deep condolences and sympathy to the victims of the Muan Jeju Air accident and their families.”
Earlier, at 9:03 AM on the 29th, a Jeju Air flight 7C2216, which had departed from Bangkok, Thailand, attempted to land without its landing gear deployed and collided with airport facilities.
As a result of the accident, all 175 passengers and 4 crew members (2 pilots and 2 cabin crew) out of a total of 181 people on board died at the scene. The government announced that it would designate a week of national mourning until January 4 of next year in relation to this Jeju Air passenger plane disaster.
