In 2025, the Year of the Snake (乙巳年) has arrived. We look at the Snake zodiac stars born in 1989, including Lee Jong-suk, Kim Woo-bin, and those born in 1977, such as So Ji-sub and Park Hae-il, who will be active on screens and television.
First, born in 1989, Kim Woo-bin will greet viewers through the Netflix original series "All Will Be Realized." The series features a genie from a lamp who awakens after a thousand years and meets a human, Kayoung, who lacks emotions, leading to a stress-free romantic comedy about three wishes. Kim Woo-bin will portray the genie, showcasing an unprecedented transformation.
This series is the next project from the legendary writer Kim Eun-sook, known for creating hits like "The Glory," "Mr. Sunshine," "Goblin," "Descendants of the Sun," "The Heirs," "Gentleman's Dignity," "Secret Garden," and "Lovers in Paris." Directed by Lee Byung-hun, who helmed the film "Extreme Job" and the drama "Melody of Love," Kim Woo-bin reunites with Suzy after seven years since KBS's "Uncontrollably Fond." The release date is yet to be announced.
Lee Jong-suk, who is the same age as Kim Woo-bin, returns to the small screen with the new tvN drama "Seocho-dong." "Seocho-dong" is a legal office drama about associate lawyers working in different law firms within the same building in Seocho-dong, as they search for their life goals. Lee Jong-suk plays the role of Ahn Joo-hyung, a nine-year associate lawyer.
"Seocho-dong" is particularly anticipated for its realistic script based on the experiences of current lawyer Lee Seung-hyun and the unique visual style brought by director Park Seung-woo. Actors Lee Jong-suk, Moon Ga-young, Kang Yoo-seok, Ryu Hye-young, and Lim Sung-jae will form a group of associate lawyers who share golden lunchtime moments, known as the "Lawyer Avengers." It is set to be released in the first half of the year.
Born in 1977, Park Hae-il will meet audiences through the film "To the Land of Happiness." The film tells the story of an escaped convict "203" (Choi Min-sik) who has no time and a patient "Nam-sik" (Park Hae-il) who has no money, as they accidentally come into possession of a large sum of money and dream of a glamorous ending to their lives.
"To the Land of Happiness," which marks the first screen collaboration between actors Choi Min-sik and Park Hae-il, is directed by Im Sang-soo and has garnered attention. The film was officially selected for the 73rd Cannes Film Festival in 2023 and was chosen as the opening film for the 26th Busan International Film Festival held last October, receiving recognition for its artistic quality. The release date is yet to be announced.
So Ji-sub, who is the same age as Park Hae-il, returns with the Netflix series "The Square." Based on the Naver webtoon "The Square," the series follows Ki-jun, who cut off his Achilles' heel and left the square world, returning after 11 years to seek revenge for the death of his brother Gi-seok, who was the second-in-command of the organization. So Ji-sub plays the role of Ki-jun, making a comeback to noir action after 11 years since the film "Company Man."
In addition to So Ji-sub, the series boasts a solid cast lineup including Heo Jun-ho, Ahn Gil-kang, Lee Beom-soo, Gong Myung, Choo Young-woo, Jo Han-cheol, as well as Cha Seung-won and Lee Joon-hyuk, raising expectations. The release date is yet to be announced.
