Allegations of inadequate service and attendance manipulation have been raised against Song Min-ho of WINNER, who is currently serving as a public service worker.
On the 17th, Dispatch reported that Song Min-ho did not properly report for duty at the Mapo Community Benefit Facility where he works as a social service agent, and that he was never seen during over ten visits to the facility for on-site checks.
When checked for attendance, he reportedly made excuses such as, “I’m on annual leave today,” “I’m on sick leave today,” and “I’m hospitalized today.”
A person in charge at the Mapo Benefit Facility stated that Song Min-ho had been coming to work regularly since returning from a vacation in Hawaii at the end of October, but when asked if they could view attendance records or CCTV footage, they refused, saying, “It’s personal information, so it’s not possible,” according to the report.
According to the report, after moving to the Mapo Benefit Facility in March, Song Min-ho would occasionally show up, sign in, smoke a cigarette, and then disappear.
An anonymous informant revealed, “Those celebrities just lay on their desks. They sleep all day. Song Min-ho sometimes stays in a room where there are no people at all.”
Another informant stated, “Even if it’s alternative service, one must do their best to fulfill their duty to the country. Is it fair for a famous star to not report for nearly a year and then be discharged?” They requested, “Please confirm that normal attendance and work are being carried out.”
Dispatch pointed out, “Song Min-ho lives just over 1 km away from the Mapo Benefit Facility. It’s a distance that can respond to the Military Manpower Administration’s (surprise) inspections. Moreover, if he has prettily decorated the attendance log, there would be no issues until his discharge.”
Person in charge A stated regarding the allegations of inadequate service, “There are times when he sleeps intermittently. There’s a room next door. Sometimes he takes annual leave and doesn’t come in, and there have been cases where he went out to the hospital,” adding, “In fact, we try to keep it a bit hidden (in the next room). People come to see him. And that friend has some physical and mental difficulties.”
YG Entertainment denied the allegations of inadequate service, stating, “He is working normally.”
The reasons for Song Min-ho's alternative service included panic disorder and cervical disc issues. Earlier, photos of him with long hair and a beard during service raised suspicions of violating military regulations.
Song Min-ho's discharge date is in six days, on the 23rd.
