A, the older sister of actress Sunwoo Eunsook, has exposed allegations of sexual assault against broadcaster Yoo Youngjae.
On the 10th, the Seongnam branch of the Suwon District Court's Criminal Division 1 (Judge Heo Yonggu) held the second trial for Yoo Youngjae, who is accused of violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (forced sexual assault due to familial relations).
According to reports from Star News and Sports Kyunghyang, A, who appeared as a witness that day, claimed, “I lived with Yoo Youngjae from October 4, 2022, and was sexually assaulted multiple times thereafter.”
He stated, “Around March 2023, I have a habit of always holding my puppy on my left side, so the other side is empty. At that time, without saying anything, Yoo Youngjae twisted my nipple.”
He also mentioned, “There were other instances of assault, and among them, there was a case where the severity of the sexual assault was the highest. My sister went to a golf panel for a broadcast shoot and would stay overnight once a month. The day before, my sister asked me, ‘Please wake me up at 10 AM and prepare breakfast for Yoo Youngjae.’ When it was 10 AM and he still hadn’t come out, I knocked on the door, and he was sitting on the bed naked, saying ‘Come in.’ He was covering himself with a towel he always carries.”
A recounted, “I said, ‘Are you crazy? Hurry up and come out to eat,’ and when I came out, Yoo Youngjae followed me without wearing anything on top and wearing thin, airy silk panties on the bottom, holding the kitchen door with one hand and lifting his genitals and testicles with the other, saying, ‘At 60, isn’t this okay?’ I almost fainted. I told him, ‘Hurry up and get dressed. What kind of behavior is this?’”
He continued, “I thought he went to get dressed, but he came back and hugged me from behind, whispering in my ear, ‘Did you sleep well?’ I pulled my body away towards the sink, but his genitals touched my butt. So I said, ‘This is sexual assault. I am your sister-in-law. What kind of behavior is this? If you do this kind of thing outside, everything that Eunsook has built over 45 years, her honor and everything, will end in an instant because Eunsook is more famous than Yoo Youngjae,’ and I scolded him severely before going into my room.”
A also revealed that Yoo Youngjae's forced assault continued in October, stating, “Yoo Youngjae came into my room and said, ‘I’ll hug you once. There are times when you want to do it too, right?’”
Regarding why she couldn’t tell her sister Sunwoo Eunsook, she confessed, “When my sister was going through her first divorce, there were a lot of scandals. I saw her living alone and lonely for 18 years. She often said to me, ‘Yoo Youngjae is a person sent by God,’” and admitted that she felt guilty for encouraging her sister’s marriage.
She added, “I thought if I told my sister, she would be shocked and in shock. So I thought, ‘I’ll just cover it up and handle it myself. If I die, no one will know,’ and that’s why I couldn’t say anything.”
Yoo Youngjae is accused of forcibly touching A's body five times since 2023. After a police investigation, he denied all allegations during the prosecution stage, but the prosecution believes there is evidence and indicted Yoo Youngjae without detention on October 18.
During the first trial held on the 12th of last month, Yoo Youngjae's lawyer stated, “We deny the charges,” and added, “We were unable to copy some materials such as transcripts, so we could not confirm the related content. We will clarify the specific denial of the charges in the next trial.” Yoo Youngjae, who attended the trial, also denied his allegations.
Meanwhile, separately, Yoo Youngjae is also involved in an annulment lawsuit filed by Sunwoo Eunsook. The two announced their divorce after 1 year and 6 months of marriage in April this year. Afterward, suspicions arose that Yoo Youngjae was in a third marriage rather than a remarriage with Sunwoo Eunsook, and Sunwoo Eunsook revealed, “If I had known about the common-law relationship before marriage, and if it had been such a deep relationship, I would not have agreed to marry in just 8 days, nor would I have registered the marriage.” Ultimately, Sunwoo Eunsook filed for annulment.
Yoo Youngjae's side acknowledged the third marriage but denied the common-law relationship allegations. Due to the controversy, Yoo Youngjae stepped down from the ongoing radio show ‘Yoo Youngjae’s Radio Show’ on Gyeongin Broadcasting.
