Director Jin Hyuk revealed the behind-the-scenes story of casting actress Lim Ji Yeon for the title role in 'Ok-ssi Buin Jeon'.
At the production presentation for JTBC's new weekend drama 'Ok-ssi Buin Jeon' held at the Ramada Sindorim Hotel in Guro-gu, Seoul, on the afternoon of the 28th, Director Jin Hyuk introduced the drama as "a story about humanism. It is set against the extreme situation of a class system, with backgrounds of inequality and injustice, but there are no scenes of revenge as the characters overcome these challenges."
He continued, "There is no punishment; in the end, they understand, forgive, embrace, and win together. I hope it becomes a drama that can provide warmth in these chaotic and cold times."
Regarding Lim Ji Yeon, who plays the role of the fake Ok Tae Young, who changes her fate from a slave to a noblewoman, he said, "The role is significant and the acting is difficult. Lim Ji Yeon came to mind. It felt like a divine revelation. There was no other choice." He added, "She looks great in hanbok, so I dressed her in it. The character is challenging; she has to show every aspect of a human being. She had to portray everything from the lowest slave to a noble lady," hinting at Lim Ji Yeon's performance.
'Ok-ssi Buin Jeon' is a drama depicting the fierce survival con game of Ok Tae Young (Lim Ji Yeon), who had a fake name, identity, and husband, and the artist Cheon Seung Hwi (Choo Young Woo), who risked his life to protect her. Director Jin Hyuk, known for his stylish direction in dramas like 'Sisyphus', 'The Legend of the Blue Sea', and 'The Master's Sun', collaborates with writer Park Ji Sook, known for 'Uncle' and 'My Spring Days'.
The first broadcast is scheduled for 10:30 PM on the 30th.
