The funeral of the late Jeon Yoo-sung, a patriarch of the comedy world, has been moved up by one hour.
Jeon Yoo-sung passed away on the 25th at 9:05 PM due to worsening symptoms of lung disease at Jeonbuk National University Hospital.
He was 76 years old. The funeral hall set up at Asan Medical Center in Seoul has been visited by his daughter Jeon Je-bi, as well as fellow comedians and colleagues from the broadcasting industry, who are accompanying him on his final journey.

The funeral, originally scheduled for 7 AM on the 28th, has been changed to 6 AM. Comedian Kim Hak-rae, who is overseeing the funeral arrangements, stated, “We moved the schedule up to reflect on the late comedian's legacy with more people.” Following the funeral, a memorial service will be held at KBS in Yeouido. The memorial service is set for 7:10 AM, with comedian Jo Jin-hyung from KBS's Gag Concert 34th season in charge.
KBS has prepared the memorial service to honor Jeon Yoo-sung's achievements. He debuted as a broadcast writer in 1969 and laid the foundation for Korean comedy. During a time dominated by physical comedy, he introduced 'slow comedy,' creating a new trend, and was the first to use the title 'comedian,' paving a new path in the comedy industry. He also operated the comedy troupe 'Comedy Market,' nurturing numerous juniors and establishing the foundation for Korean public comedy programs.
Many comedians and fans are expected to attend the funeral and memorial service to bid farewell to the late comedian. Mourners are expressing their deep condolences, stating, “A great star of the comedy world has dimmed.”
