HITGS, representing teenagers, has thrown down the gauntlet for their debut in the music industry.
On the afternoon of the 28th, an offline media showcase was held to celebrate the release of HITGS's first single album ‘Things We Love: H’ at the SBS Open Hall in Deungchon-dong, Gangseo-gu, Seoul.
HITGS is the first girl group launched by Kim Kang-hyo and Jang Hyung-sik of H Music Entertainment, consisting of five girls: Hyelin, Seohee, Lee Yoo, Seo Jin, and Bibi. The name HITGS stands for Hip, Innocent, Teenager, Girls, Story, and it embodies the pure passion of teenage girls pursuing their dreams, along with new music and performances that have never been seen before, creating a unique identity for HITGS.
HITGS expressed their debut feelings, saying, “We have always dreamed of debuting, and being on stage feels like a pleasant dream,” adding, “We will become a group that can write a unique record.”
HITGS is a new girl group presented by Kim Kang-hyo, who has worked at Starship Entertainment for 17 years. Kim has built a high level of success and infrastructure in discovering and producing idols through his work with MONSTA X, WJSN, CRAVITY, and IVE, making the launch of his first girl group even more anticipated.
HITGS identified ‘visuals’ as their distinguishing feature. They stated, “Each member has a strong visual charm,” and added, “We believe our visuals are refreshing and vibrant. Our goal is to be number one in visuals as well.”
Composed entirely of teenage girls aged 15 to 18, HITGS combines pure and bright charm with the freshness and vibrancy that matches their debut song ‘SOURPATCH’.
Notably, this debut album was enhanced by collaborations with prominent K-pop artists such as Wendy, aespa, ZEROBASEONE, and RIIZE. Additionally, the choreography features Ling, a global choreographer who has worked with the runner-up team of Mnet’s ‘Street Woman Fighter 2’, as well as Jennifer Lopez, BTS's Jungkook, and Justin Bieber, raising expectations even further.
Citing ‘TWICE’ as their role model, HITGS expressed their determination, saying, “We want to be a group that can express a variety of styles like our seniors in TWICE.”
They continued, “We want to be a warm group that resonates with teenagers and reminds other age groups of their own teenage years. We have worked hard on our debut album this year, and we hope to receive a lot of love.”
HITGS had previously formed under the name Project H and made a hot debut even before their official launch, showcasing an unusual first stage at the ‘2024 SBS Gayo Daejeon’ pre-show last year.
Regarding their performance at the Gayo Daejeon pre-show, HITGS recalled, “When we heard we would be performing at such a big stage, we felt a sense of responsibility and pressure. Contrary to our worries, we practiced a lot and wanted to show what we had prepared quickly. I think we performed with excitement rather than nervousness.”
HITGS expressed their passion, saying, “We definitely want to win the Rookie Award in 2025,” and added, “Since HITGS represents teenagers, we plan to express all the emotions that represent teenagers one by one. We hope to hold a solo concert and have been communicating with fans through many community apps even before our debut, but we also want to have a fan meeting where we can meet them in person. We want to be a group that can repay our fans' love.”
