Comedians Yang Se-hyung and Yang Se-chan confessed about their strong mother.
On the 12th, in the broadcast of tvN's 'You Quiz on the Block' (hereafter 'You Quiz'), the comedy brothers 'Yang Se Brothers', Yang Se-hyung and Yang Se-chan, appeared and showcased their relentless banter, bringing laughter.
On this day, Yang Se-chan shared, “When we were young, we often got scolded by our mother. MC Yoo Jae-suk mentioned that if our mother made a rattlesnake sound, it meant we were in big trouble,” to which they replied, “When we were young, we never moved around while eating. We ate as if we were in a formal setting, and if we spilled anything, we picked it up immediately,” revealing their mother's formidable nature.
In response, Yang Se-hyung added, “This kid! This kid! That’s not it either. If we were playing and the noise got too loud, a ‘shh’ would immediately settle the situation.”
When Yoo Jae-suk asked, “I heard your mother recently completed military training for women,” Yang Se-hyung said, “She is very proud of it. As far as I know, she did it as the oldest participant,” and Yang Se-chan added, “My mother sent a photo of herself in military uniform in our group chat.”
Yang Se-hyung mentioned that instead of sending flower photos, his mother sends pictures of herself shooting and throwing grenades, explaining that the reason she decided to join the military later in life was, “She said she realized at some point that if a war broke out, she would want to take out two enemies before leaving,” adding, “She thought, even if I go, I have to take those two with me.” This brought laughter to the audience.
Yoo Jae-suk also mentioned the story of their mother catching a falcon with her bare hands. Yang Se-hyung said, “When my mother first sent a photo of the falcon, I wasn’t that surprised. She’s my mom,” and continued, “I wasn’t surprised at all, but when I heard the story, she thought it had come in alone, but another one followed it in, and they fought. So she caught the one that was attacking and let it go, and while trying to safely handle the one that was losing, she thought, ‘I should take a picture of my sons’ and took a photo.”
In response to Yang Se-chan's comment that “the falcon pecked at her while she was taking the photo,” Yang Se-chan added, “My mother also commented, ‘It seems like good energy is coming into our house.’” This again highlighted their extraordinary mother’s spirit.
Finally, Yang Se-hyung revealed about their mother, “The sound of ‘shh, shh’ changes to a wild cat sound just before she’s about to hit us,” making the scene burst into laughter.
Later, in a solo interview, Yang Se-hyung said, “My mother is truly wonderful and amazing. When my younger brother couldn’t walk, she would wrap him in a cloth and hold my hand to come to Itaewon from Dongducheon every day to sell clothes on the street. She also started working as a wallpaperer, at a time when there were hardly any female wallpaperers. Since she was alone, she didn’t like the way people would glance at her, so she cut her hair short and wrapped her chest with a compression bandage to work,” he said.
He continued, “I used to hope she would come to sports days in pretty clothes, but after following her a few times to work, I realized that wasn’t possible,” expressing his respect for his mother, saying, “Even now, I sometimes go with her to help with wallpapering, and she is truly a strong person.”
