Actress Song Hye-kyo expressed her deep affection for her mother and revealed the significant impact her mother’s advice had on determining the direction of her life.
On the 16th, Song Hye-kyo appeared on the YouTube channel ‘Gyangminggyeong’ and candidly shared stories about her mother while visiting a gopchang (grilled intestines) restaurant with Kang Min-kyung.
That day, Song Hye-kyo ordered four servings of gopchang and yanggui (grilled lamb) while saying, “I’m hungry,” confessing how much she loves gopchang. She laughed, saying, “There are times when I eat it three times a month. Sometimes, right after getting off a flight abroad, I think, ‘Shall we go eat gopchang?’”
The owner of the gopchang restaurant also mentioned Song Hye-kyo’s mother, saying, “She is a very warm-hearted person.” He then revealed her mother’s careful request, “When my daughter comes, make sure to cut off all the fat,” which caught attention. In response, Song Hye-kyo smiled and said, “My mom likes being outgoing and spontaneous. She is completely different from me.”
Song Hye-kyo referred to her mother as “the best woman for me” and shared that her mother’s life philosophy has been a great source of strength for her. She said, “My mom told me, ‘Just let it flow as it goes.’ She said that if things are going badly and you can’t stop it, you should accept it, and good days will come with time.” Song Hye-kyo did not hide her respect for her mother, stating that this advice helped her overcome many difficulties.
Kang Min-kyung mentioned Song Hye-kyo’s movie ‘The Black Nun’ and said, “I met senior actor Heo Jun-ho again after 20 years.” Song Hye-kyo recalled, “He was also happy to see me and said, ‘Look how much you’ve grown.’ I debuted as a high school student and only did sitcoms, then started serious acting with ‘Autumn in My Heart’ when I was 20.” She continued, “’Autumn in My Heart’ is the work that brought me to where I am now. It’s the work I’m most grateful for,” expressing her affection for her debut project.
Finally, Song Hye-kyo showed a humble attitude towards acting. “Although ‘The Glory’ was successful, I don’t want to stay there for long. When the next project starts, I will approach it with the mindset of starting from the beginning again,” she vowed.
