Actress Jung In-sun won the Best Actress award in the Short Film/Web Drama category at the '2024 SEOULCON APAN STAR AWARDS' for her role in tvN's 'O'PENing – The Grand Shining Hotel.'
The '2024 SEOULCON APAN STAR AWARDS,' held on the 28th at DDP Art Hall 1, is an integrated drama awards ceremony that encompasses all channels, including terrestrial and OTT, and this year marks its 10th anniversary.
Through 'The Grand Shining Hotel,' Jung In-sun showcased a transformative performance that broke genre boundaries, leading to the saying that "Jung In-sun is the genre."
Jung In-sun, who played the role of 'Yoo Ah-young,' a character who became an employee at a web novel platform company after quitting as a drama assistant writer due to the main writer's bullying, led the narrative with a variety of emotions, from a devoted romance trapped in a novel for her loved one to a thriller confronting a psychopathic serial killer, and a mystery involving a laptop that automatically writes novels.
Upon receiving the award, Jung In-sun expressed her gratitude, saying, "Thank you to everyone in the audience who joined us in this cold weather and to the award ceremony officials." She added, "We filmed 'The Grand Shining Hotel' from late summer to fall last year. Although it was a short filming period due to it being a short film, it was a powerful and dreamlike work for me," revealing her deep affection for the project.
She continued, "It was a work where I could express many things I had imagined and wanted to challenge as an actress, making it a very precious time for me. Moreover, receiving this award makes it even more meaningful to remember. Thank you once again." Jung In-sun also did not forget to express her gratitude to director Myung Hyun-woo, writer Park Se-hyun, the production team, fellow actors, her agency staff, family, and friends.
Throughout this year, Jung In-sun has captivated audiences not only with 'The Grand Shining Hotel' but also as 'Han So-jin,' a genetic researcher in TV Chosun's 'DNA Lover,' showcasing her quirky and lovable charm as a 'new romantic comedy fairy.' With a bold hairstyle transformation to a short hippie perm, she further enhanced the character's quirky appeal while deeply expressing the constantly changing emotional lines of her character, proving her acting prowess once again.
Jung In-sun is currently filming the horror movie 'Hide and Seek.'
