Actress Kim Go-eun has put an end to the coming-of-age drama.
In the Netflix series 'Eunjoong and Sangyeon' (written by Song Hye-jin, directed by Jo Young-min), which was released on the 12th, Kim Go-eun played the role of Ryu Eunjoong, showcasing the moments of knots where the past and present intersect, completing the texture of the drama.
In the latter part of the drama, Eunjoong faced Sangyeon again, whose condition had worsened. As Eunjoong looked at Sangyeon's precarious state in the emergency room, her face was shadowed by a cold, hardened emotion and long-standing compassion. When she heard Sangyeon's last request in the hospital room, the unspoken conflict and wavering seeped into the silence, vividly revealing the character's inner self.
The scene by the beach in Gangneung was a moment where the relationship between the two began to unravel. In Eunjoong's gaze towards the sea, there was a bittersweet resignation and subtle comfort coexisting. In the following scene, when Sangyeon handed her brother's camera to Eunjoong, Kim Go-eun expressed the weight of time with just a short breath and lightly trembling fingertips.
With just a few scenes, Kim Go-eun firmly connected the character's past and present. The wavering revealed in her conversation with Sangyeon evoked the intense experiences of her 30s, finally tying up the character's long journey. She wove together the anxieties of her 20s, the intensity of her 30s, and the deep resonance of her 40s into a consistent flow. The restrained emotions and low tone of the 40s Eunjoong were the result of her accumulated acting journey.
Completing the final emotion of the drama with her strong presence, Kim Go-eun once again proved her weight as an actress who spans generations through this work.
