Professor Kim Sang-wook (55) from the Department of Physics at Kyung Hee University is recovering after undergoing an emergency cardiovascular procedure.
On the 11th, Professor Kim revealed through his social media that he went to the emergency room in the middle of the night due to feeling unwell during the Chuseok holiday, and was immediately admitted to the ICU as he was on the verge of a myocardial infarction. He stated, "I underwent an emergency cardiovascular stent procedure."
He explained, "It is an amazing procedure where a wire is inserted into the blood vessel to install a support (stent) inside the vessel," adding, "According to the attending physician, it was a situation where there was nothing to say even if a myocardial infarction occurred. The procedure went well, and I am currently recovering quickly."
He continued, "While living in the ICU and the ward, I was able to realize once again that many people in the hospital are working hard and struggling," and added, "I sincerely thank the medical staff who saved my life."
Known as an expert in quantum mechanics, Professor Kim has gained recognition by appearing on tvN's entertainment program 'Aladuimyeon Sseuldaenun Sinbihan Jabhaksajeon' and MBC's 'Seon-eun Neomeun Nyeoseokdeul: Master-X'.
He previously expressed his political beliefs regarding the paralysis of state affairs following the '12.3 Insurrection Incident' under former President Yoon Seok-yeol.
