Recently married and enjoying his honeymoon, 'new groom' Kim Jong-min has been selected as a 'birth correspondent' for the country's first childbirth live broadcast variety show, 'Our Baby is Born.'
Joining as a 'birth correspondent' on the TV CHOSUN entertainment program 'Our Baby is Born' (hereafter 'Our Baby'), which will have its regular first broadcast on the 16th, Kim Jong-min expressed his desire to learn everything, indicating his readiness as a 'prospective dad.'
Kim Jong-min, who recently revealed that he has quit drinking and is preparing for his second child, stated that pregnancy, childbirth, and parenting are his current top interests. As he goes through the preparation process to become a father, he expressed his hope that participating in 'Our Baby' will help him understand his wife better, saying, "I want to understand everything a woman goes through."
Below is a Q&A with Kim Jong-min.
Q. Please share your thoughts on joining 'Our Baby.'
A. It has been my biggest area of interest lately. I think it will be a very meaningful time to be part of 'Our Baby.' My wife has been talking a lot about babies, and she told me to go and learn a lot from 'Our Baby.' I decided to participate to learn properly.
Q. You might feel that your knowledge about childbirth and parenting is still lacking. What do you want to learn the most from 'Our Baby'?
A. I want to learn and understand not just the childbirth process but everything a woman experiences from pregnancy onward.
Q. If there is a role in childbirth and parenting that you definitely want to take on as a dad, what would it be?
A. Rather than focusing on one thing, I want to learn everything so that I can act appropriately in any situation.
Q. Do you have any personal preparations or mindsets that you want to make sure to keep in mind before filming?
A. I am focusing on making pregnant women feel comfortable. I will also work to reduce their fears.
Q. It is said that 'Our Baby' will cover a variety of stories from mothers, families, and those in different situations. Is there a particular aspect that you are most excited or looking forward to?
A. I am excited to be part of the process of bringing new life into the world.
Q. If there are friends or family members who have shared their childbirth or parenting experiences, what is the most memorable piece of advice you received?
A. I was advised to take care of the mother first when the baby is born.
Q. If there are two experienced parents (Park Soo-hong, Sayuri) from whom you want to learn something, what would it be? Or is there any memorable advice they gave during filming?
A. Soo-hong said that natural childbirth seems to be better and advised me on the 'advantages of natural childbirth.' However, Sayuri mentioned that since she hasn't given birth herself, she might not fully understand that aspect, which stuck with me.
Q. How would you introduce 'Our Baby' in one sentence? You can also highlight some key points to watch for.
A. I would describe 'Our Baby' as 'humanity.' If you watch it, you'll understand why. The key point to watch is that 'Our Baby' contains the heartfelt wishes of all mothers and families. If you focus on that part, you will find it even warmer.
Q. What is something you would like the viewers of 'Our Baby' to know about childbirth or this program?
A. I hope you will support the great process of the birth of life.
The country's first childbirth live broadcast variety show, 'Our Baby is Born,' which captures the joy of childbirth by visiting the scenes and cheering and celebrating the birth of new life, will have its regular first broadcast on the 16th at 10 PM.
