The 28th season of ‘I Am Solo’, a special episode for singles, kicked off with a ‘Dopamine Party’ from the very first day.
On the broadcast of ENA and SBS Plus's real dating program ‘I Am Solo’ on the 10th, the fiery first night of the 28th season singles entering ‘Solo Nara 28’ was showcased, along with the ‘Self-Introduction Time’ that took place the next day, captivating the viewers’ attention.
On this day, the 28th season solo women began the ‘First Impression Selection’. Here, Young-soo became the ‘Most Popular Man’ by receiving votes from Young-sook, Young-ja, and Soon-ja. Next, Young-cheol confirmed a ‘mutual interest’ by receiving a ‘pick’ from Jung-hee.
Jung-sook, Ok-sun, and Hyun-sook all chose Sang-cheol as their first choice, while Young-ho, Young-sik, Kwang-soo, and Kyung-soo found themselves in the ‘Zero Vote Man’ situation. Immediately after, Young-ho revealed in front of the production team, “I tried not to take it too seriously, but it was disappointing,” and Kyung-soo expressed his bitterness, saying, “Usually, the women approach first, so it was unexpected to receive zero votes.”
When everyone arrived at the accommodation, Young-soo, Young-cheol, and Young-sook volunteered for the grocery shopping team and went to the mart. As soon as Young-soo entered the mart, he filled his cart with everything from Hanwoo beef to various ingredients. Ultimately, the total cost of items in Young-soo's cart exceeded 1 million won, and a flustered Young-sook revealed in an interview with the production team, “I tend to be impatient, so I hope my partner isn’t in a hurry,” indicating that her feelings for Young-soo had changed. On the other hand, Young-soo expressed his interest in Young-sook, saying, “I think Young-sook is calm and can complement my personality.”
Upon returning to the accommodation, Young-soo also led the atmosphere for a barbecue party. He shared a toast he had prepared with everyone and shouted, “On the first broadcast day of ‘I Am Solo’, let’s all celebrate together.” Jung-sook showed interest in Young-soo’s high energy and confessed to him, “I was torn between choosing Sang-cheol and Young-soo as my first pick for ‘First Impression Selection’.” Additionally, Jung-sook suggested, “Let’s go talk separately for a moment,” and as they went down the stairs, she naturally held Young-soo’s hand and even engaged in skinship by linking arms and holding hands.
After continuing their conversation late into the night, Jung-sook returned to her room to sleep. However, she suddenly sat up and burst into tears, startling her ‘roommate’ solo women, who hurriedly comforted her. Jung-sook sobbed, “Usually, everyone is scared of me at work, so I can’t show weakness,” and lamented, “But no one recognizes me, and it’s so sad.” Shortly after, she revealed in an interview with the production team, “I’m the only one around me who has been divorced,” and expressed her feelings, saying, “I wonder if I have failed; no matter how hard I try, things don’t go my way.”
On the morning of the second day at ‘Solo Nara 28’, Kwang-soo and Young-sook won the ‘Lucky Bag Date’ and went on a ‘Breakfast Date’. During the meal, Kwang-soo honestly said, “I told the production team that I wanted to talk with Young-sook yesterday.” Young-sook was surprised by Kwang-soo’s appeal and said, “I had no idea at all,” and in an interview with the production team, she confessed, “I actually had no interest in him, but after the date, I developed feelings.”
During the ‘Self-Introduction Time’, the identities of the solo men were fully revealed. Young-soo, born in 1984, was the CEO of a food-related startup who even received a commendation from the Prime Minister. He stated, “I have no children,” and added, “If my partner is good, I would love to embrace all of their background,” which moved the solo women as he expressed his willingness to raise a partner’s children if they had any. In particular, Hyun-sook, a mother of three, shed tears while listening to Young-soo’s self-introduction, expressing her interest by saying, “He’s a man I want to rely on as a person.”
Young-ho, born in 1989, was a businessman supplying diving and rescue equipment to fire stations and maritime police stations. He shared, “I divorced after three years of common-law marriage due to differences in personality,” and expressed, “I dream of being a young dad, but living well with my partner comes first. I’m okay with someone who has children.” Young-sik, born in 1980, works as an urban planning engineer in Gwangju and explained, “I’m in my 10th year of divorce and raising an 18-year-old daughter. I came here with the support of my daughter, who is a fan of ‘I Am Solo’.”
Young-cheol, born in 1983, works as a researcher in Daejeon and shared, “I ended my 10-year marriage through a lawsuit,” and mentioned his ex-wife raising their child, which brought him to tears. He also expressed his dream of remarrying, saying, “I want to dine out with a woman who has children at a barbecue restaurant.”
Kwang-soo, born in 1981, revealed that he is the executive director of album production who has worked with popular idol groups like AMBLACK, MADTOWN, and CARD, and shared, “I have been raising my daughter alone since she was six months old, and now she is in her third year of high school,” adding, “I want to meet someone who communicates well and is positive.”
Sang-cheol, born in 1983, is a staff member at a university hospital in Cheongju and highlighted his strengths as ‘job security’ and ‘private school pension’. Kyung-soo, born in 1978, introduced himself as the first Korean goalkeeper to expand into Europe and is currently running a sports video-related startup and a soccer school.
In the preview that followed, Ok-sun was seen crying, saying, “My daughter is so precious,” and the solo men confessed that their ‘interest rankings have completely changed’ after the ‘Self-Introduction Time’, raising curiosity for the next broadcast with the solo women’s ‘First Date Selection’.
The ‘Self-Introduction Time’ and ‘First Date Selection’ of the 28th season solo women can be seen on the upcoming broadcast of ‘I Am Solo’ on the 17th at 10:30 PM.
