Kim Hee-ae has been selected as the MC for the 'Seoul Music Awards' on 'What Do You Do When You Play?'
On the afternoon of the 30th, the MBC entertainment program 'What Do You Do When You Play?' (directed by Kim Jin-yong, Jang Woo-sung, Jang Hyo-jong, Wang Jong-seok, written by Choi Hye-jung) aired the much-discussed '1980s Seoul Music Awards'.
During the broadcast, Yoo Jae-suk said, "What you are most curious about is how the music awards will be conducted. We will have actual judges like before. The judges will be revealed on the day of the event. We will award the Grand Prize, Gold Prize, Silver Prize, Bronze Prize, and the Favorite Popularity Award chosen by the viewers, as well as a Special Award," and added, "There are a few participants who want to change their fate differently from others."
When DinDin said, "I came to become Young-K," Yoo Jae-suk replied, "I don't think it will be easy," causing laughter.
Yoo Jae-suk emphasized, "You can't suddenly start singing and shouting or do EDM. Even while dancing, you can't just say 'Break it down' and dance. One more thing to mention is that there are people other than the participants who we hope will sing this song. If so, we can find the right person and bring them on stage. If it's the Fire Truck brothers, it's a fixed three-person group," he explained.
The production team, which received viewer opinions for participants who found song selection difficult, introduced songs from the 80s that they wanted to hear again. 'To You' by Infinite Orbit and 'Damdadi' by Lee Sang-eun tied for 5th place. Yoo Jae-suk said, "Infinite Orbit was the last song at the MBC College Music Festival. They were sure it would win the Grand Prize as soon as they heard it," and played 'To You'. He added, "It's still sung a lot as a cheering song. Recently, Yoon Do-hyun performed it at a college festival."
Yoo Jae-suk also mentioned, "Damdadi is the Grand Prize song from the Gangbyeon Music Festival. They were also sure it would win the Grand Prize as soon as they heard it. At that time, Lee Sang-eun's interview became a hot topic."
4th place went to Jang Hye-ri's 'I Will Give You My Remaining Love'. Yoo Jae-suk particularly said, "It was so charming. I really liked it!" proving to be a super fan. When Jang Hye-ri's song played, Yoo Jae-suk exclaimed, "Sister! I love you so much! Isn't it really hip?" and lost his composure.

The 3rd song that viewers wanted to hear again from the 80s was 'You I Happened to Meet' by Songgolmae. When Yoon Do-hyun said he had never sung it before, DinDin remarked, "I think it would suit you very well," suggesting that the song's owner was already decided. The 2nd place song was 'If You Stand Under the Shade of the Street Trees' by Lee Moon-sae, and Choi Jeong-hoon, Jeong Seong-hwa, Ha Dong-kyun, and Wooz decided to sing a line each.

A few days later, Yoo Jae-suk, Haha, Joo Woo-jae, and Lee Yi-kyung gathered again to select male and female MCs for the music awards. Yoo Jae-suk said, "There are many singers. We need to split them up and meet," suggesting they should divide into teams. He also mentioned that it would be good to have more female vocalists and agreed to hold additional preliminaries.
Yoo Jae-suk and Haha met Kim Hee-ae, who automatically comes to mind when thinking of MCs for the 80s music awards. Upon seeing Kim Hee-ae, Haha exclaimed, "Sister! How are you still the same? So classy!" in admiration.
Kim Hee-ae, who started free diving last year, shared, "I am living between Seoul and Jeju. I am trying to spend my time happily! I started because I was scared of water. I thought that when I get older, I won't be able to do it, so I thought, why not do it before I die? But I'm happy. It feels like traveling abroad. The underwater world is exotic, right? I can't help but smile. It's a world I used to be scared of," sharing her recent experiences.
When Yoo Jae-suk pointed out, "So, sister, your arms are a bit tanned," Haha commented, "Cool! It feels like Italy," causing laughter.
Yoo Jae-suk noted, "Sister, you have a lot of experience as a public broadcast MC," and asked, "Is it true that you discovered singer Kim Jong-chan?" However, Kim Hee-ae, unable to remember what she ate the day before, shyly replied, "I don't know~ I come across new songs while DJing. I must have said someone’s song was good. Kim Hee-ae responded, "I know music fairly well, but it feels like we had a telepathic connection." When she asked, "What relationship do I have that you invited me?" Yoo Jae-suk explained, "We invited you because you were a star in the 80s, but we also need someone to host. We thought it would be great if you could be the MC."
In response, Kim Hee-ae said, "I haven't hosted since I did 'New Life for Children' recently. But I like being an MC. It would be nice to see you both after a long time. I think it would be fun," and was selected as the host.
