Actor Lee Jong-hyuk will make a public apology after observing his son Tak-soo's flirting.
The new reality show ‘My Child's Romance’, co-produced by tvN STORY and T-Cast E Channel, which premieres on the 20th, captures the hearts of parents observing their children in romantic relationships and the stories of children growing through love.
Hosted by Kim Sung-joo and Chu, the show features fathers of sons Lee Jong-hyuk, Park Ho-san, and Ahn Yoo-seong, and fathers of daughters Lee Cheol-min, Kim Dae-hee, and Jeon Hee-cheol, creating a mix of tension and excitement. While the fathers of sons appear relaxed, the fathers of daughters show anxious and restless behavior, providing empathy and laughter from the start.
As the children gather at the accommodation for a five-day stay, they break the awkward atmosphere with introductions, starting their fresh first meeting, while the watching fathers cannot hide their own nervousness. Soon, the fathers engage in guessing their children's first impressions, leading to a mix of joy and disappointment as some end up in the 'zero first impression club', adding to the excitement.
The first mission is divided into three parts: decorating the house, cooking, and grocery shopping, where pairs of two go on mini-dates. In a game of intuition, when Lee Jong-hyuk's son Lee Tak-soo claims the grocery shopping, Lee Cheol-min's daughter Lee Shin-hyang volunteers, saying she loves going to the supermarket, forming the grocery team. In response, Lee Cheol-min humorously expresses his anger, saying, “(Shin-hyang) really hates going to the supermarket. If I say let’s go together, she will definitely not go.”
During their first meeting, Lee Tak-soo and Lee Shin-hyang form a connection over their similar taste in music, showing a subtle chemistry, and during the grocery shopping mini-date, they become even more friendly. Quickly getting close, Lee Tak-soo calls Lee Shin-hyang 'you', showcasing their familiarity. This triggers Lee Cheol-min's anger, and while trying to gauge the situation, Lee Jong-hyuk makes a public apology for his son's casual flirting, causing laughter.
Unaware of the fathers' feelings, the two continue their sweet mini-date, and as Lee Shin-hyang's hand brushes against Lee Tak-soo's while pushing the shopping cart, the studio erupts once again.
At the accommodation, Park Ho-san's son, Park Jun-ho, a contestant from 'High School Rapper 2', and Jeon Hee-cheol's daughter Jeon Soo-wan engage in house decorating, while Ahn Yoo-seong's son Ahn Sun-jun and Kim Dae-hee's daughter Kim Sa-yoon have a cooking date. The inexperienced Ahn Sun-jun leads the mini-date with 'compliment flirting' he learned online, and the watching fathers are charmed by his cuteness, admitting they learned about romance through books.
Ahn Sun-jun showcases his secret cooking skills, learned from his father Ahn Yoo-seong, who appeared on 'Black and White Chef', successfully appealing to his charm. As the fathers of daughters show interest in Ahn Sun-jun's cooking skills, Ahn Yoo-seong makes a shocking promise, saying, “If he does well on this show, I’ll think about opening a store,” and “The store's revenue will exceed 10 million won,” eliciting active appeals from the fathers of daughters and causing laughter.
Meanwhile, among the now more relaxed cast, a 'catfish' appears, raising the tension and flipping the atmosphere once again. With the arrival of the tall and handsome catfish, not only the children but also the fathers are stirred, raising curiosity about how the children's romantic interests and love lines will unfold.
‘My Child's Romance’, where parents gather to watch their children's innocent crushes, is expected to capture the excitement of watching a youth film while also showcasing the genuine reactions of parents as they see their grown children seeking love. In particular, the reactions filled with parents' affection and bias are anticipated to give birth to a new kind of 'healing romance show'.
‘My Child's Romance’ will premiere today (20th) at 8 PM on tvN STORY and E Channel.
