Dog behavior expert Kang Hyung-wook presented a firm solution in front of the rebellious dog from Gimje.
In the episode aired on the 12th, the Channel A entertainment program ‘Dog and Wolf’s Time’ featured a visit solution for the ‘Gimje rebellious dog’ that displayed ownership aggression, and the story of ‘Wolf No. 3’, a ‘Jamsil gangster dog’ that changes when it sees other dogs, was revealed.
Kang Hyung-wook assigned homework to the family of the Gimje rebellious dog: “No treats or physical contact, and remove the food bowl.” Upon seeing that the room structure remained the same, Jo Yoon-hee asked, “What could have happened?” Kim Sung-joo replied, “There’s a reason, or it’s just ignoring us,” he said decisively. The guardian explained that after removing the food bowl, the Gimje rebellious dog began to guard its feces, which led to a restoration of the situation.
In the ‘food guarding test’, the Gimje rebellious dog bit and wouldn’t let go of the training hand while guarding its food. Observing this, Kang Hyung-wook suspected ‘acquired ownership aggression’ and demonstrated the process of driving away other dogs from the space occupied by the Gimje rebellious dog. The first step was successful, but the rest was up to the guardian. Kang Hyung-wook advised the emotionally sensitive mother guardian to “hide her feelings and be shameless” and demanded a change in attitude.
Next, Wolf No. 3 appeared, a fighter whose eyes changed when it saw other dogs. Every time they went out, it caused tension in the surroundings with aggressive barking, and even the kind guardian had to become rough in the process of restraining it. Seeing this, Kim Sung-joo empathized with the guardian’s behavior, saying, “The child is rough, right? The mom has to become a bit of a gangster too.”
However, the observation camera showed a different story. A 6-month-old baby was living in the house. After the baby was born, all the attention that had been on Wolf No. 3 shifted to the baby. Wolf No. 3 waited for its mother all day, but the exhausted mother had no energy to care for the dog. Seeing Wolf No. 3’s lonely appearance, Kim Sung-joo expressed sympathy, saying, “I’m on 3’s side now.”
Contrary to Kang Hyung-wook’s expectation that it would be easily corrected, during the on-site solution, even when the guardian disappeared from view, Wolf No. 3 continued to bark, causing Kang Hyung-wook to pause for a moment. Curiosity grew about what variables were hidden behind Wolf No. 3’s behavior.
‘Dog and Wolf’s Time’ is a real solution program that looks into not only the problematic behaviors of dogs but also the attitudes and environments of their guardians. The first season features French Bulldogs ‘Wolf No. 1-3’, each with different stories and personalities, showing different changes in each episode.
Meanwhile, ‘Dog and Wolf’s Time’, featuring Kim Sung-joo, Kang Hyung-wook, and special MC Jo Yoon-hee from the first season, airs every Tuesday at 9:20 PM on Channel A.
