The second preliminary round of the ‘What Do You Do When You Play?’ Seoul Music Festival was held.

The episode aired on the afternoon of the 2nd, featuring the MBC entertainment program ‘What Do You Do When You Play?’ (directed by Kim Jin-yong, Jang Woo-sung, Jang Hyo-jong, Wang Jong-seok, written by Choi Hye-jung), which was themed around reinterpreting 80s music for the Seoul Music Festival Part 2.

In this broadcast, the members re-evaluated participants who had been put on hold from last week's show. The first participant was Namsan Tower. When asked by Haha how he came to participate, Namsan Tower said, “I wanted to bring back memories from my life and share happy times with people from my generation who have lived through those memories,” speaking somewhat at length. In response, Lee Yi-kyung joked, “Your way of speaking is like our principal from when we were kids,” which brought laughter.

Namsan Tower, who chose the song because he enjoyed ‘Gwanghwamun Sonata’, surprised the members by passionately singing ‘Why Cry’. After revealing his face, it turned out to be actor Park Young-kyu. Despite not being able to join, Park Young-kyu, who has a unique charm, said, “I think I’ve succeeded in my own way. But there has to be more after that,” emphasizing the need for continued dreams.

When Joo Woo-jae interrupted, asking, “What is your dream now?” Park Young-kyu became serious. In response, Yoo Jae-suk scolded Joo Woo-jae instead, and Park Young-kyu comforted him, saying, “No, don’t do that. I’m anxious. It’s okay,” which made everyone laugh.

Haha asked, “Are you considering entertainment as well? How about other content besides this? Famous…” and inquired if he would be on the list of ‘famous but unpopular celebrities’. Yoo Jae-suk cut in, saying, “Hey! This is just! This feels like a breach of etiquette. We have the Seoul Music Festival and another one…” to which Haha replied, “You’re super famous! But compared to my fame…”

Upon realizing the nature of the content, Park Young-kyu reacted to Yoo Jae-suk’s question, “Do you think ‘Insa-mo’ would be better than ‘Seoul Music Festival’?” by saying, “Are you trying to send me to ‘Insa-mo’? I want to do this,” expressing his frustration.

Suddenly, Park Young-kyu looked at Yoo Jae-suk and said, “You’re my junior from school, but I really respect you,” adding, “I’m proud that you’re my junior,” giving him compliments.

When Yoo Jae-suk replied, “But I didn’t graduate,” Park Young-kyu exclaimed, “Hey! Not graduating is the problem! The important thing is that you got into school!” speaking passionately. Yoo Jae-suk laughed and said, “I thought you were angry,” bowing deeply to Park Young-kyu.

After passionately singing ‘My Way’, Park Young-kyu pleaded to be accepted. However, when it seemed like Yoo Jae-suk wouldn’t accept him, Park Young-kyu said, “I want to show the public properly.” When Haha teased, “What if the public isn’t curious?” Park Young-kyu retorted, “You know what? If they’re curious, you’re dead! Who are you to decide?” making everyone laugh.

Upon Yoo Jae-suk’s statement that the audience vote would determine Park Young-kyu’s acceptance, he politely bowed to the camera and left.

The second candidate on hold was Gongjak Sangga. He confessed, “I love you, Jae-suk,” hinting that he was Park Myung-soo. He then passionately sang ‘What a Coincidence’.

After revealing his face, Park Myung-soo, upon hearing the members say that he didn’t seem to match the 80s vibe, said, “Then I won’t do it! I won’t! But I can’t say anything good. I’m going to start cursing. I’ll say on national radio, ‘Oh, he’s a bit different!’” half-jokingly threatening them.

Later, Park Myung-soo mentioned that he saw comments saying he had become gentler, pretending to act out of character, but suddenly got angry at the members, causing everyone to burst into laughter. He said, “I actually want to do it. I didn’t work hard before, but I’m going to work really hard now. I’m sorry. Please let me do it! This is our last collaborative work. It’s a personal matter. Jae-suk!” pleading earnestly.

Afterward, Park Myung-soo chose ‘Don’t Say Goodbye’ for a re-evaluation stage. The members positively evaluated his performance, noting that despite his vocal condition not being great, he still showed a good performance.

A few days later, the members gathered again for the second preliminary round of the music festival. The first participant was Sangbong Terminal. He passionately sang ‘To J’. As Sangbong Terminal showcased his sorrowful voice and powerful singing ability, the members unanimously declared him accepted.

The second participant, Jongno Bookstore, sang ‘Sad Relationship’ and ‘Once Again to You’. After hearing his songs, Haha remarked, “He sounds like a modern idol. He’s going to be popular. I bet he’s good-looking! Fair-skinned and handsome,” making assumptions.

Yoo Jae-suk expressed, “This person has finished with singing. There’s still range left!” in admiration.

With Jongno Bookstore accepted, the third participant, International Roller Rink, sang ‘Is It Still a Dark Night?’ while dancing a bit. When his long hair swayed and his misaligned teeth were visible, the members burst into laughter, realizing he was comedian Lim Woo-il.

Yoo Jae-suk commented, “But you sang too hastily. You’re not someone who should participate in the Seoul Music Festival,” eliminating him.

The fourth participant, Dongdaemun Stadium, showcased his singing skills with the song ‘Apartment’. His identity was revealed to be former baseball player Yoo Hee-kwan. Upon seeing his unique hairstyle, the members laughed and said, “It’s not bad, but to invite him under the title of a music festival…” eliminating him.

The fifth participant was Dong-A Planning. He showcased a distinctive version of ‘Is Anyone There?’ with his unique singing style. Joo Woo-jae remarked, “He’s playing with a jazz rhythm,” while Haha expressed, “He’s so good,” describing it as spine-chilling.

Next, Dongbu Ichon-dong chose Lee So-young’s ‘Meeting’. Upon hearing his voice, the members recognized him, saying, “That lion’s mane… he’s the original artist!” realizing it was Lee So-young.

Yoo Jae-suk stated, “We can’t judge him like Brother Jin-sung, and this is a support stage for a legend from the 80s,” thus eliminating Lee So-young. She left her final words, saying, “Fighting, PD Yoo!”

The last participant, Marronnier Park, showcased ‘I Lived Like a Fool’. The members, worried about whether he could handle a song that required depth, were impressed upon hearing his voice, saying, “This is the 80s vibe. Just a guitar and a voice.”

Haha exclaimed, “We’re going to shine! A big catch has come in!” clapping his hands. Yoo Jae-suk concluded, “I didn’t expect such people to come out for our Seoul Music Festival. If this person doesn’t participate, we have to spend money to bring him in. Let’s go back to the 80s together,” wrapping up the preliminary round.

MBC’s ‘What Do You Do When You Play?’ airs every Saturday at 6:30 PM.
