In the latest episode of 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2 - You Are My Destiny' (hereafter 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2'), voice actor couple Jung Hyung-seok and Park Ji-yoon showcased their strong bond and affection as a couple of 17 years, despite their conflicts.
The episode aired on the 7th and featured the daily lives of the voice actor couple Jung Hyung-seok and Park Ji-yoon, who have a combined 41 years of experience, drawing significant attention.
From the beginning of the interview, the couple bickered and revealed their 'personality differences'. Park Ji-yoon described herself as impatient and meticulous, while Jung Hyung-seok claimed to be the opposite. He said, “I’m a free spirit. I think that might not match well,” to which Park Ji-yoon responded, “It feels like I’m raising three kids alone instead of doing it together with my husband.”
On that day, despite having promised to have a meal with Park Ji-yoon, Jung Hyung-seok was engrossed in shopping and did not answer his phone. Eventually, Park Ji-yoon found him at a department store, but Jung Hyung-seok continued shopping.
After shopping, they headed to a distant restaurant that Jung Hyung-seok wanted to go to, but they got stuck in traffic and, to make matters worse, they didn’t know the name of the restaurant, leading them to wander around. When they finally arrived, the restaurant was closed, and an exasperated Park Ji-yoon turned the car around to go home.
Park Ji-yoon expressed her frustration, saying she is a planner who looks things up in advance, while Jung Hyung-seok is spontaneous. She explained, “This has happened a lot since we were dating. I’ve experienced this too many times, and even when I talk about it, it keeps happening,” revealing the reason for her anger.
Ultimately, the couple had a late dinner at home with takeout food. Park Ji-yoon expressed her disappointment that Jung Hyung-seok did not apologize. However, Jung Hyung-seok insisted, “I was trying to do well, but it’s not like I committed a grave sin,” and did not apologize.
In an interview, Jung Hyung-seok revealed, “I wanted to take her to eat something delicious, but the sharp words kept coming at me, so I unknowingly started to feel bad,” sharing his true feelings belatedly.
Meanwhile, Jung Hyung-seok complained that his monthly allowance of 2 million won was insufficient, showing a childish side. Seo Jang-hoon responded, “You have kids... If you look at just the pocket money, you spend more than I do.”
Park Ji-yoon expressed her frustration at her husband, who seems to think only of what he wants without considering household finances and taking care of acquaintances. The couple's differences in opinion remained unresolved, and Park Ji-yoon, feeling unappreciated for her efforts, tearfully stated, “My family comes first.”
Park Ji-yoon mentioned, “I’m not the type to express my feelings right away when I’m upset, so I think I’ve been holding it in,” explaining that her accumulated frustrations lead to fights over trivial matters.
She also shared a story about a time she left a letter and went on a trip away from her children. Unlike her, who values time spent with family, she recalled feeling overwhelmed by Jung Hyung-seok's neglect of family responsibilities, saying, “I thought I would feel more at ease without him.”
Jung Hyung-seok described that week without his wife as the scariest time in their marriage. Despite this, he admitted that he struggled to express himself and, after his wife returned from her trip, he initially avoided properly apologizing, surprising the studio once again.
He explained, “I didn’t want to talk about negative separations or breakups. I felt like if I brought it up, it would lead to an end.” Jung Hyung-seok added, “I’m not good with words. I want to say something convincing, so I prefer to write it down.”
On that day, Jung Hyung-seok surprised everyone by giving Park Ji-yoon a thoughtful surprise gift along with a long letter filled with his feelings. The letter contained his sincere thoughts and apologies towards his wife. Upon hearing the long-awaited apology, Park Ji-yoon ended up in tears, and the studio echoed, “Hyung-seok has a way with words.”
Park Ji-yoon reflected, “I used to think I was the only one enduring everything, but that was my misunderstanding. I feel grateful knowing that he has been putting up with me because of his personality.” Jung Hyung-seok expressed, “I respect my wife a lot. I think she is a much better person than I am,” showcasing the strong bond and affection typical of a couple married for 17 years.
Meanwhile, it has been announced that next week, the wedding scene of Park Ha-na and Kim Tae-soo, which has garnered attention, will be aired for the first time, raising expectations. 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2' airs every Monday at 10:10 PM.
