Three couples were formed during the meeting on ‘My Ugly Duckling’.
In the episode aired on the afternoon of the 6th, SBS's entertainment program ‘My Ugly Duckling’ (hereafter ‘My Ugly Duckling’), Heo Kyung-hwan, Choi Jin-hyuk, and Lee Yong-dae successfully paired up with beautiful women.
On that day, Heo Kyung-hwan and Oh Jung-tae appeared. It turned out that Oh Jung-tae had invited Heo Kyung-hwan, Choi Jin-hyuk, and Lee Yong-dae for a 3-on-3 meeting.
As the three were chatting, the first woman appeared. When she introduced herself as “Shim Ha-yul, an Oriental doctor,” the members watching the VCR smiled. Lee Yong-dae flirted, saying, “You know there’s a badminton club at Wonkwang University, right?” showing an active demeanor.
The second woman introduced herself as “Choi Hyang-ki, working in a startup.” Finally, the third woman introduced herself as “Ko Soo-jung, a traditional musician. I travel between Korea and Europe for work.”
After the three men made their appeals, Oh Jung-tae said, “Since we don’t have much time, we will do a rotation meeting. You will talk one-on-one for 10 minutes and then switch seats,” which piqued interest.
While having the first conversation with Choi Hyang-ki, she confessed, “To be honest... I really like (Choi Jin-hyuk),” making Jin-hyuk excited. They even matched in MBTI types, capturing the panel's attention.
While talking with Lee Yong-dae, Shim Ha-yul said, “I know you’ve been there once. That’s okay. I think we can meet better. You know, only those who have eaten meat can eat it,” showing her understanding of Yong-dae’s situation.
When Yong-dae mentioned that he visits an Oriental doctor whenever he feels a bit stiff, Shim Ha-yul expressed her interest, saying, “That’s perfect. Just right.”
Finally, Heo Kyung-hwan, who had a conversation with the traditional musician Ko Soo-jung, regrettably mentioned his age, saying things he didn’t need to say.
After completing the rotation mission, during the mid-selection, both Lee Yong-dae and Heo Kyung-hwan chose Shim Ha-yul, while Choi Jin-hyuk chose Choi Hyang-ki. On the other hand, Shim Ha-yul chose Yong-dae, Choi Hyang-ki chose Jin-hyuk, and Ko Soo-jung chose Kyung-hwan.
Next, they went shopping for a barbecue party. Yong-dae and Soo-jung, who drew the same lot, went to buy meat together, while the other four started preparing dinner.
During the barbecue party, Heo Kyung-hwan showcased his forearm muscles and impressive knife skills, earning admiration from the women. When Kyung-hwan fed a sausage to Hyang-ki in front of Jin-hyuk, Jin-hyuk became cautious, but later flirted with the sausage when they were alone.
During the meal, Ha-yul told Heo Kyung-hwan, “You have a cooler vibe than I expected. You have a comedic image on the show,” while Soo-jung also remarked, “Your voice is lower than I expected, and you’re taller than I thought,” expressing a different image than anticipated.
Hyang-ki said, “I think Jin-hyuk is the type to take care of others and seems kind. Yong-dae looks much better in person,” pointing out the differences from the show.
After the meal, the final choices were made. Jin-hyuk and Hyang-ki, Kyung-hwan and Soo-jung, and Yong-dae and Ha-yul became the final couples, resulting in all three men from ‘My Ugly Duckling’ pairing up.
Earlier, the first ‘My Ugly Duckling’ featured Lee Sang-min and his wife. Lee Sang-min's wife, wearing a mask, made her first appearance on the show. Lee Sang-min said, “I fell for my wife’s strong character. When I’m having a hard time, she gives me solutions, making her seem more mature than me,” highlighting his wife's charm.
When Lee Sang-min asked his wife if she had been disappointed in the past two months, she replied, “Disappointed? No. So far, you’re kind, and I like it.” Additionally, when his wife expressed a desire for a wedding shoot instead of a wedding ceremony, Sang-min surprised everyone by saying, “I’ll make it the best. I want to have a small wedding. Jang-hoon gave me 3 million won as a congratulatory gift,” revealing this information. As Seo Jang-hoon, who was watching the VCR, was taken aback and said, “Why would you say that?” Shin Dong-yeop teased, “Jun-ho and Ji-min are getting married soon.”
In response, Seo Jang-hoon mentioned, “Well... this situation is different,” referring to Lee Sang-min's remarriage. Lee Sang-min's wife also remarked, “Rich people are different,” expressing admiration.
It turned out that the couple was heading to the hospital to hear the results of their IVF. Sang-min said, “I’m grateful to you for being the first to register our marriage and suggesting we try for a baby,” expressing gratitude for his wife's efforts.
As they arrived at the hospital, Lee Sang-min presented a bouquet he had prepared to ease his wife's tension, showing his thoughtful side.
The doctor said, “We have a mid-grade embryo, so the embryo isn’t that bad. Since two embryos were implanted this time, if both implant, it will be twins,” delivering positive news.
When Sang-min learned that his wife had undergone egg retrieval alone without sedation on a day he couldn’t be there, he felt sorry and said, “Next time, I’ll adjust my schedule to be there.”
After the blood test, the doctor said, “The results are in... the number is 0.2. You need to be over 50 to expect pregnancy, so unfortunately, this IVF attempt didn’t work,” announcing the failure of their first attempt.
Hearing that they could try again in a month, his wife came out of the examination room, wiping her tears and saying, “I’m too old.”
