Kisses received their first round of praise from the ‘Artist Makers’.
On the 20th, the ENA entertainment program ‘House of Girls’ depicted the scene where the ‘Untitled Musicians 10’ - Bam-sae, Biu, Seori, Sian, Ara, Young-joo, Yoo-ah, Yul, Giselle, and Kisses - formed teams of ‘two people’ to enter the third round ‘One Mission’, where the first elimination would occur.
They presented a variety of genres from ‘K-POP’ to ‘R&B’, ‘Folk’, ‘Ballad’, and ‘Band’, providing thrilling excitement and auditory pleasure that kept viewers glued to their screens.
After successfully completing the heated second round ‘Hip-Hop Collaboration’, the ‘Untitled Musicians’ gathered again in the ‘House’. Seori, Ara, and Yul, who were crowned the ‘Title’ in the second round, enjoyed a hearty breakfast with delivery food, while the remaining seven made do with instant rice and seaweed. Feeling humiliated, Giselle vowed, “I wanted to flip the dining table. If I become the ‘Title’ in the next competition, Seori, Ara, and Yul will be in real trouble!”
After finishing their meals in a contrasting atmosphere, they focused on the explanation of the third round mission by ‘Managing Director’ and MC Lee Yi-kyung, who made a surprise appearance on the living room TV. Lee Yi-kyung stated, “This mission is ‘One Mission’, where teams of ‘two people’ will showcase duet performances. Only the team that ranks first will become the ‘Title’, and there will also be an elimination of the first person to leave the ‘House’.”
In a shocking situation, the genres that five teams would present in the third round were announced. The ‘Untitled Musicians’ pondered who to team up with and which genre to challenge among K-POP, Folk, Band, Ballad, and R&B.
During this time, Seori said, “I followed Giselle rather than focusing on the genre,” and joined the R&B team chosen by Giselle, while the ‘performance powerhouse’ Yoo-ah chose K-POP and teamed up with Biu. Kisses teamed up with Ara for the Folk team, while the Band genre saw Bam-sae, Sian, and Yul gather, creating an awkward atmosphere.
At that moment, Yul announced, “Actually, I have the ‘third round genre selection’ benefit,” indicating that he would use the benefit he obtained in the previous second round. He then chose Bam-sae as his partner, and Sian, with tears in her eyes, moved to the Ballad team with Young-joo.
A few days later, ‘Artist Makers’ Kim Yoon-ah, Yang Dong-geun (YDG), Shin Yong-jae, and So-you were seated in the studio, and MC Lee Yi-kyung declared, “The third competition is ‘One Mission’, where the ‘Hao Girl’ musicians will perform live sessions instead of MR.” He also added, “The team with the lowest score in the third round will have to face a ‘death match’, and one of the two will leave ‘Hao Girl’,” creating a tense atmosphere.
Immediately after, the R&B team of Seori and Giselle opened the ‘One Mission’. The two presented a duet performance of Yoon Mi-rae’s ‘As Time Goes By’ with splendid harmonies. After the stage, Kim Yoon-ah coldly pointed out, “I couldn’t find rhythm and blues in your singing styles,” while So-you noted, “It felt like you were fighting each other. There was a lack of teamwork.”
Following the unexpected harsh criticism, Kisses and Ara presented their Folk stage. Kisses, who is of Korean-American descent, visited a live bar with Ara beforehand to understand the Korean folk sentiment. Furthermore, they interpreted and discussed the lyrics of their competition song ‘Writing a Letter to the Cloudy Autumn Sky’ to express their own emotions.
As a result, the two delivered a heartfelt performance and received high praise from the ‘Artist Makers’. Kim Yoon-ah praised, “I was surprised that Kisses could produce such sounds,” while Yang Dong-geun applauded, “They seem like singers who can appeal to all ages.” Overwhelmed with emotion, Kisses burst into tears.
Next, Biu and Yoo-ah took the stage with the K-POP genre, performing EXO’s ‘LOVE ME RIGHT’. Yoo-ah, who came from China, had a weakness with the Korean lyrics, so she received intensive pronunciation training from Biu before the official stage, and this effort paid off as Yoo-ah delivered a stable live performance.
After the stage, Yang Dong-geun smiled with satisfaction, saying, “The chemistry between the two transcended the stage and was felt here. You could see the love they have for each other.” Kim Yoon-ah also commented, “I will give full marks for their teamwork that cared for each other. It was a stage where Yoo-ah’s tremendous effort was evident.” Biu later stated in an interview, “Regardless of anything else, I wanted to be praised for our teamwork, and I was proud to be recognized for that.”
With only two teams left, Sian and Young-joo’s Ballad stage was revealed. Earlier, Sian had been criticized for her unstable pitch, and Young-joo, who is a former ‘vocal trainer’, said, “You need to show a standardized performance. I will train you even if I have to grab your hair,” and trained Sian in a Spartan manner.
Sian expressed, “I feel like I met a very scary teacher,” but focused on practice, and in the third round competition, the two reinterpreted HYNN (Park Hye-won)’s ‘Last Train’. Their flowing harmony and teamwork impressed So-you, who said, “I heard Young-joo is a ‘vocal trainer’, and now I understand why.” Kim Yoon-ah remarked, “I thought this was the most unstable combination, but I was mistaken. Sian’s effort was evident, and Young-joo seemed to lead her partner well.”
Finally, with only Yul and Bam-sae’s stage remaining, the identity of the first elimination from ‘House of Girls’ will be revealed in the 6th episode of ENA’s ‘House of Girls’ airing on the 27th at 11 PM.
