The 'MBN Seoul Marathon' will start on November 16 at Gwanghwamun Square and Jamsil Sports Complex in Seoul.
This event, hosted by MBN and Maeil Business Newspaper, is divided into two categories: the 'Half Course (21.0975km)' and the '10km Course'. Approximately 25,000 runners will participate, running through famous landmarks rich in Seoul's history and culture.
The newly designed Half Course starts at Gwanghwamun Square, passing major landmarks in downtown Seoul and heading towards Jamsil. In the first section after the start, runners will experience the charm of the historic downtown by passing Seoul City Hall and Sungnyemun, before going through Myeongdong and the area around Chungmuro Station, known as a 'tourism mecca'.
Next, runners will encounter the history of Seoul's fortress at Heunginjimun (Dongdaemun), passing through the intersections of Sinseoldong, Janghanpyeong Station, Gunja Station, and Guui, before crossing the Jamsil Bridge and finishing at the east gate of Jamsil Sports Complex. As a result, there has been a positive response to the new course, described as "a beautiful premium half course as stunning as the full course".
The '10km Course' starts at the east gate of Jamsil Sports Complex, passing through the Jamsil Station intersection and Seokchon Station, turning back at Garak Market Station. Runners can enjoy various landscapes of Songpa, including Lotte World Tower and Seokchon Lake.
In particular, the course has very few steep inclines or declines, allowing runners to focus more on their pace, making it a course that can satisfy everyone from beginners taking on their first challenge to runners aiming to set new records.
Runners wishing to participate can register for pre-information on the official website from July 25 to 29. This system was implemented to minimize inconvenience caused by a surge of applicants on the day of registration, allowing runners to complete their applications more quickly and efficiently.
The Half Course will recruit 15,000 participants on a first-come, first-served basis starting July 30, while the 10km Course will recruit 10,000 participants starting July 31. Registration will begin with those who have completed pre-information registration, and the participation fees are 80,000 KRW for the Half Course and 60,000 KRW for the 10km Course.
This event will also be linked to MBN's entertainment program 'You Have to Run to Live' Season 2, with various on-site events and special broadcasts planned.
The MBN Seoul Marathon organizing committee stated, "We hope this event will be a chance for runners to showcase their skills honed over the year and conclude the season. As this is an event that many people are looking forward to, we will ensure safe and convenient event management."
