A shocking confrontation between Jang Shin-young, who has obtained decisive evidence regarding her daughter's assault case, and Yoon Ah-jung, who is trying to cover up the truth, was depicted.
In the 7th episode of MBC's daily drama ‘The Woman Who Swallowed the Sun’ (written by Seol Kyung-eun, directed by Kim Jin-hyung), which aired on the 17th, Baek Seol-hee (played by Jang Shin-young) secures crucial evidence after a relentless pursuit to reveal the true culprit behind her daughter Baek Mi-so's (played by Lee Ru-da) assault case, leading to a shocking confrontation with Min Kyung-chae (played by Yoon Ah-jung), who is at the center of immense power.
In this episode, Seol-hee, determined to uncover the truth behind Mi-so's assault case, collaborates with Joo Yeon-ah (played by Choi Soo-gyeon) to create flyers to find witnesses and thoroughly searches the alley where Mi-so was assaulted, dedicating herself to the pursuit of truth.
Despite most people showing indifference, Seol-hee's refusal to give up clearly demonstrated her desperate maternal love for her daughter. In particular, seeing Mi-so upset over the fact that a fake culprit was caught only intensified Seol-hee's urgency.
Meanwhile, Min Se-ri (played by Park Seo-yeon) was anxious about her actions being revealed, and Kyung-chae reassured her, showing continued confidence in covering up the incident by stating that there would be no further police investigation. Additionally, Kyung-chae met with Moon Tae-kyung (played by Seo Ha-jun) again to scout him. Introducing herself as the president of Min-gang Distribution, Kyung-chae brought up the topic of a new business scouting contract, to which Tae-kyung responded by saying he needed to confirm something he had buried for 25 years.
Kyung-chae pressured him not to be tied down by events from 25 years ago and to focus on the contract, but Tae-kyung, unfazed, proposed a counter-deal by demanding the sharing of internal information from Min-gang Distribution, leaving Kyung-chae flustered and raising expectations for a change in their relationship.
Amidst her frustrations, Seol-hee found a glimmer of hope. By chance, she secured a black box memory card, bringing decisive evidence into her hands. The footage contained horrific scenes of Mi-so being indiscriminately assaulted by Se-ri, and upon witnessing her daughter's suffering from the brutal assault, Seol-hee was engulfed in uncontrollable rage. Looking at her sleeping daughter, she vowed, “How scared was our daughter? Now, mom will find that person and make them pay. Just wait a little longer,” which resonated deeply with viewers.
Having obtained the crucial evidence, Seol-hee headed straight to Min-gang Distribution. With a determined expression, she confronted Kyung-chae, who was arguing with an employee in the lobby, introducing herself as “Mi-so's mother and the guardian of the victim” and demanding a face-to-face meeting. Entering the president's office of Min-gang Distribution, Seol-hee confidently presented the black box video as evidence, revealing that Se-ri was the true culprit.
However, Kyung-chae shamelessly suggested compensation, saying, “What do you gain by blowing this up?” without a hint of remorse, and Seol-hee firmly rejected it, stating she had come to give an opportunity for forgiveness. But Kyung-chae was equally formidable, provocatively stating, “Forgiveness is something the powerful do,” and added, “If you think of making a profit by selling your child, you should stop.”
In a fit of rage, Seol-hee splashed the water from the glass she was holding onto Kyung-chae's face, launching a powerful counterattack, and the two continued their shocking confrontation, glaring at each other amidst a tense atmosphere.
The 8th episode of MBC's daily drama ‘The Woman Who Swallowed the Sun’ will air on the 18th at 7:05 PM.
