In the final episode of the JTBC documentary 'Deep Dive Korea: Song Ji-hyo's Haenyeo Adventure', which airs at midnight on the 29th, the process of Song Ji-hyo completing her underwater harvesting as a haenyeo and the touching performance prepared by her and the 'Hahyo-ri Haenyeo Choir' for retiring haenyeos will be revealed.
On this day’s broadcast, Song Ji-hyo will participate in an underwater harvesting activity called 'urchin relocation' with the haenyeos of Hado-ri, Jeju. The 'urchin relocation' involves moving urchins to a location where they can spawn well, in order to harvest them the following year. Song Ji-hyo diligently goes in and out of the sea to understand the 'life of living together' that the haenyeo community has maintained for a long time.
Another stage in Part 3 takes place in Hahyo-ri, a coastal village in Seogwipo City. Here, Song Ji-hyo challenges herself to 'boat harvesting', where she goes out to sea on a boat. The daily life of the Hahyo-ri haenyeos, who dive to a depth of 10 meters as if it were nothing. In this environment, Song Ji-hyo shows courage by overcoming her fears and jumping into the sea.
A warm song gift prepared by Song Ji-hyo and the 'Hahyo-ri Haenyeo Choir' for the haenyeos who have had to stop harvesting due to age will also be revealed. By singing about their brilliant lives, Song Ji-hyo's efforts to comfort and support them while becoming a member of the haenyeo community are expected to resonate deeply.
The production team stated, "Part 3 is an episode that gathers scenes of Song Ji-hyo changing and growing through her time with the haenyeos," adding, "We aimed to convey the vitality and warmth of haenyeo culture through the time spent singing together and interacting on the sea."
The final episode of 'Deep Dive Korea: Song Ji-hyo's Haenyeo Adventure', a co-production between JTBC and BBC Studios, supported by the Korea Creative Content Agency, will air at midnight on the 29th on JTBC.
