‘Salim Nam’ has successfully garnered attention with a high viewership rating of 2049.

In the episode aired on the 17th, KBS2's entertainment program ‘Salim Nam Season 2’ (hereafter ‘Salim Nam’) featured a special event prepared by Park Seo-jin and her brother for their father, as well as the recent updates on Ko Ji-yong, the third protagonist of ‘Memory Salim Nam’ from the group Sechs Kies.

On this day, special guests included actor Park Bo-gum and child actress Kim Tae-yeon, who played the role of young Ae-soon in the Netflix original drama ‘Bokssak Sogassuda’. He mentioned that the role of Uncle Hak would suit Park Seo-jin, to which she responded with an impression of Uncle Hak, bringing laughter with a 100% synchronization rate.

Following this, Park Seo-jin shared her daily life with her family in Samcheongpo. After seeing their father, who had injured his arm while working on a boat and had to visit the emergency room, Park Seo-jin and her brother could not hide their worries. However, their father insisted on returning to work on the boat, and Park Seo-jin expressed her anger, trying to stop him despite his ongoing injuries.

In response to Park Seo-jin's continuous nagging, their father changed the subject, asking, “Are you in touch with Hong Ji-yoon and Yo-Yomi?” which silenced her. Meanwhile, the family speculated that their older brother Hyo-young had gone through a breakup and expressed concern about his love life. In particular, their father expressed dissatisfaction with all three siblings not getting married, shouting, “Not getting married is also a failure of filial piety.” Eventually, the parents blamed each other, leading to a heated argument, and the father went back to work on the boat despite Park Seo-jin's pleas.

Later, while cleaning the boat together, the parents unexpectedly met a friend. They were delighted to see their friend's three-year-old grandchild, but could not hide their envy. Returning home with a bitter feeling, the couple showed lukewarm reactions to the surprise event prepared by Park Seo-jin and her brother for Parents' Day.

During dinner, the parents brought up the topic of their children's marriages and grandchildren. Park Seo-jin and Hyo-jeong expressed annoyance at the repetitive conversation, but Park Seo-jin mentioned in an interview, “The talk about grandchildren today was different. I realized that there is something really upsetting that makes them say such things.”

Park Seo-jin's father also revealed, “I felt envious when my friend boasted about his grandchild. Other friends have grandchildren who are going to college, and I felt a bit sad about that,” expressing his regrets. He then asked his children, “Will I be able to see a grandchild before I die?” showing his disappointment, which ultimately led to a raised voice argument between Park Seo-jin and her parents.

However, Park Seo-jin became worried about her father, who was sensitive due to his poor health. She regretted saying, “I should have just acknowledged it,” and a few days later, she decided to cheer him up and help him regain his strength by trying out a haenyeo experience with Hyo-jeong.

In the meantime, to teach the siblings about diving, a 40-year veteran haenyeo from Samcheongpo and her son, a third-year haenyeo, appeared. When the warm-looking haenyeo's son appeared, Hyo-jeong could not hide her smile, and Park Seo-jin, noticing this, laughed at the thought of bringing the two together. The preview showed Hyo-jeong and the haenyeo's son quickly getting closer, sparking curiosity.

Next, Ko Ji-yong from the group Sechs Kies appeared as the third protagonist of ‘Memory Salim Nam’ and shared his recent updates. He debuted in 1997 with Sechs Kies, leaving behind numerous hit songs and gaining explosive popularity as a first-generation idol with his prince-like appearance. However, in 2000, just three years after debuting, Sechs Kies disbanded, leading to a 16-year hiatus. After the reunion of Sechs Kies, he briefly returned to broadcasting but eventually returned to his daily life as a businessman.

During this time, as Ko Ji-yong, who had distanced himself from the entertainment industry, appeared with a noticeably thinner appearance a few years ago, concerns about his health arose. Eun Ji-won even expressed his worries in a YouTube content with Jang Su-won last year, saying, “I’m really worried. Why did you lose so much weight?” This further amplified curiosity about the real situation of Ko Ji-yong as a businessman.

In response, Ko Ji-yong agreed to appear on ‘Salim Nam’ after the production team’s persistent requests and invited them to his restaurant, sharing his current focus on restaurant work.

Ko Ji-yong first explained his condition when health concerns were raised, saying, “At that time, my body was very weak. Overall, my liver function was declining, and my weight dropped to 63kg,” adding, “I’m much better now.” He also mentioned that when he was thin, his liver levels rose, leading to hospitalization. Regarding why he started in the food industry, he revealed, “After getting sick, I thought I should pay attention to my diet, which made me interested in the food industry.”

The current status of his son Seung-jae, who gained attention as a genius on ‘The Return of Superman’, was also revealed. Ko Ji-yong stated, “He’s not a genius,” but added, “He’s doing well in his studies. He’s enrolled in a music gifted education center and is diligently learning the violin.” However, he mentioned that Seung-jae, who is in his teenage years, does not check his messages well, which brought laughter as he noted that he had not received a reply to a message he sent to Seung-jae.

Additionally, when Ko Ji-yong heard that Eun Ji-won was worried about his health, he asked back, “Is Ji-won okay?” showing concern for him instead. “Actually, I’m more worried about Ji-won. He doesn’t look well. He’s older than me, and he often snacks and doesn’t exercise. He plays a lot of games,” he expressed his worries. Both of them expressed their desire to meet each other, raising expectations for a reunion after ten years.

Meanwhile, ‘Salim Nam’ airs every Saturday at 9:20 PM.
