In ‘Gwigung’, Yook Sungjae enters the tiger's den to save Cha Cheong-hwa.
SBS's Friday-Saturday drama ‘Gwigung’ (written by Yoon Soo-jung, directed by Yoon Sung-sik) is a fantasy romantic comedy about a shaman named Yeori who rejects her fate as a medium, and the Imugi, Kang Cheol, who is trapped in the body of Yeori's first love, Yoon Gap, facing the vengeful Palcheokwi who harbors resentment against the royal family, leading to a tangled battle for bodies and souls.
Ahead of the broadcast on the 16th, the ‘Gwigung’ team released stills of Kang Cheol (played by Yook Sungjae) in crisis and Yoon Gap's mother, Yeong-geum (played by Cha Cheong-hwa), drawing attention. The released stills capture the tense moment of Yeong-geum, trapped alone in a shabby warehouse, and Kang Cheol, who rushes in alone.
Yeong-geum's dire situation, with her body tightly bound, evokes sympathy from viewers, while the appearance of armed assailants with sharp swords creates a sense of impending danger in Kang Cheol's frozen gaze. Additionally, the surprising sight of Kang Cheol, who has always regarded Yoon Gap's mother as 'that woman', jumping into danger to save Yeong-geum adds another layer of astonishment.
Soon after, a tense standoff occurs between Kang Cheol and the assailants surrounding him, maximizing the tension. Kang Cheol, armed with only a single sword, faces off alone, creating a truly precarious situation. Moreover, as Kang Cheol remains trapped in a human body for an extended period, the Imugi's powers are gradually diminishing, heightening the sense of crisis. However, the fierce determination in Kang Cheol's eyes, unable to suppress his anger, and the palpable tension without any retreat spark curiosity about the upcoming developments.
Will Kang Cheol, standing at the crossroads of life and death, be able to safely rescue Yeong-geum? What is the identity of the assailants who have put the two in danger? Anticipation for the upcoming broadcast of ‘Gwigung’ is heating up.
Meanwhile, ‘Gwigung’ will air on the 16th at 9:55 PM.
