Chef Lee Yeon-bok and MONSTA X's Shownu and Jooheon showcased a mukbang of 100 mussel rice dishes.
On the broadcast of KBS2’s ‘New Menu Launch Pyeon Restaurant’ on the 9th, the story of Lee Yeon-bok and MONSTA X's Shownu and Jooheon, who were specially invited to Turkey, one of the world's top three gourmet countries, was depicted.
Upon arriving at the Turkish airport, Lee Yeon-bok, Shownu, and Jooheon were surprised. A large crowd had gathered at the airport gate. They received a warm welcome as soon as Shownu and Jooheon appeared. Among them, a placard with Lee Yeon-bok's name was also spotted.
It wasn't just fans welcoming Lee Yeon-bok, Shownu, and Jooheon. Officials from the Turkish Tourism Board, who came to greet them at the airport, expressed, "It is an honor to have you in Turkey. Please enjoy a variety of street food and traditional dishes."
Lee Yeon-bok explained, "I went to Turkey to create a collaborative dish between Korea and Turkey." When Shownu mentioned that he wanted to showcase that dish at the Turkish Food Festival, Boom joked, "You have to do well. Otherwise, you'll face a lot of criticism."
Lee Yeon-bok, Shownu, and Jooheon enjoyed Turkey by tasting döner kebabs and mussel rice. In particular, the three kept receiving mussel rice fed to them by the staff until they suddenly realized what was happening. Lee Yeon-bok expressed concern, saying, "Haven't we eaten too much? We should stop. We don't even know the price."
The total cost for the mussel rice they ate was 40,000 won. They consumed 100 mussel rice dishes, each costing 400 won. Shownu exclaimed, "If I keep eating without thinking, I might end up in debt."
Afterward, Lee Yeon-bok, Shownu, and Jooheon went to try baklava, a traditional Turkish dessert. After tasting the baklava made with 40 layers of thin dough, Shownu marveled, "The 11-hour flight was worth it. I could taste all the different flavors."
While the three were captivated by the charm of baklava, the owner appeared. The owner sat next to them and suddenly scolded them for eating baklava incorrectly. The owner then taught them how to properly eat baklava. After tasting the baklava the way the owner suggested, Lee Yeon-bok was surprised, saying, "It tastes different from when we just ate it before."
