
Actor Jung Geon-joo shared his thoughts on the conclusion of ‘A Week Before I Die’ through his agency, People Entertainment.
Jung Geon-joo played the role of Lee Hong-seok, the best friend and unique board game partner of Ram-woo (played by Gong Myung), in the recently concluded final episode of the Tving series ‘A Week Before I Die’.
After the death of his friend Ram-woo, Jung Geon-joo flawlessly portrayed the character Hong-seok, who underwent a complete transformation from his bright and cheerful demeanor. His delicate emotional performance received praise, as he moved viewers to tears with his eyes and tone that conveyed past wounds. Through ‘A Week Before I Die’, Jung Geon-joo achieved another acting transformation, redefining his ‘life character’.
Jung Geon-joo expressed, “After finishing the filming of ‘A Week Before I Die’ last year and meeting the work that was released this year, many memories came flooding back. The weather was really nice during filming, and because of that, thinking back to that time feels like my school days,” reflecting on his experience with the project.
When asked if he faced any difficulties portraying Hong-seok, who suppressed the trauma of a negative start and the sorrow of losing a friend, he replied, “I always thought about what Hong-seok’s heart would feel like after losing a friend. I felt that the Hong-seok from school days should be portrayed as brighter and closer to Ram-woo.”
In response to a question about the synchronization rate between Jung Geon-joo and Hong-seok, he answered 50%, adding, “I think we share a similar optimistic and straightforward demeanor.”
He then mentioned the most memorable scene, saying, “The emotional scene in episode 4 where Hee-wan (played by Kim Min-ha) and Hong-seok shared their past stories is the most memorable for me.”
Finally, addressing the viewers of ‘A Week Before I Die’, Jung Geon-joo said, “I hope that the drama ‘A Week Before I Die’, which remains a beautiful memory for me, can be a source of comfort for the viewers. I sincerely thank everyone for watching ‘A Week Before I Die’.”

Q. What are your thoughts on wrapping up ‘A Week Before I Die’?

I always thought about what Hong-seok’s heart would feel like after losing a friend. I felt that the Hong-seok from school days should be portrayed as brighter and closer to Ram-woo.
Q. What do you think the synchronization rate is between ‘Jung Geon-joo’ and ‘Lee Hong-seok’?
I think it’s about 50%. I believe we share a similar optimistic and straightforward demeanor.
Q. How was the chemistry with the other actors on set?
I had known Gong Myung before, so I didn’t worry about our chemistry. Since Kim Min-ha is the same age, there were things we understood without needing to say them. Oh Woo-ri is bright and cheerful, so we quickly became close.
Q. Is there a scene that stands out to you?
The emotional scene in episode 4 where Hee-wan and Hong-seok shared their past stories is the most memorable for me.
