The original "lovely" Shin Min-a has made a bold transformation into a surgeon with trauma. She is expected to showcase a dark aura and an unfamiliar face that does not shy away from swearing.
On the morning of the 31st, at the Grand Ballroom on the LL floor of JW Marriott Dongdaemun Square, during the production presentation of the Netflix series 'Bad Fate' (directed by Lee Il-hyung), Shin Min-a stated, "The immersion in the work is significant, and since the character is in deep pain, I worked hard to express that inner turmoil."
She explained, "The lead character, a surgeon, encounters someone they never want to meet again, which causes their emotions to spiral. The lead is living painfully in the present due to past trauma. I tried to express the weight of the pain felt in reality, and I discussed this aspect a lot with the director."
The new Netflix K-series 'Bad Fate' is a crime thriller depicting the intertwined stories of six individuals who are caught in a fate they want to escape but cannot. It is the first series work by director Lee Il-hyung of 'Prosecutor's Odyssey', with the production team from 'The Age of Shadows' and 'Suriname' collaborating.
The cast includes Park Hae-soo, Shin Min-a, Lee Hee-joon, Kim Sung-kyun, Lee Kwang-soo, and Gong Seung-yeon. The six actors make 'evil' choices for their own reasons and become hopelessly entangled without being able to find a starting point. The characters' stories and relationships are unraveled relentlessly over six episodes.
The common reason the actors mentioned for participating in the project was the 'charm of the script'. Park Hae-soo said, "When I first received the script, the extreme and strong story captivated me as I read it in one breath." He added, "The twists and structure were also attractive. Even though the character is dictatorial, scary, and disgusting, their foolishness was comical, which was interesting."
Shin Min-a expressed confidence, saying, "The script was fresh, and its colors were captivating. The character I played appears in the latter half, but it was so fun that I was immersed. I was so curious about the twists and the subsequent content that I felt I had to start my story even before it officially began." Lee Hee-joon joked, "Every drama's first part is important. I am responsible for the first part (laughs). It was interesting that one character leads each episode."
Kim Sung-kyun also chimed in, "The older brother starts leading from the first part, and the connections intricately become bad fates. These narratives were so fun and exciting."
Lee Kwang-soo remarked, "I suddenly understood the phrase 'makes you sweat in your hands.' The script was so gripping that my hands were sweating to the point that the script got wet. Despite the chilly weather, I printed it several more times. It was a script that made my hands sweat to the point of becoming a sea of water. Seeing the actors here made it feel much richer, and I just wanted to be a part of it."
'Bad Fate' will be released worldwide on April 4. Not suitable for viewers under 18.
