'Treasure Island' Lee Hae-young had killed Park Hyung-sik in the past. The shocking ending caused the ratings to soar.
According to Nielsen Korea, the 11th episode of SBS's Friday-Saturday drama 'Treasure Island', which aired on the 28th, recorded a nationwide rating of 11.7% and 11.9% in the metropolitan area, securing the top spot in ratings for all channels and weekly dramas during the same time slot. The peak rating reached as high as 12.9%, and the 2049 rating also ranked first at 3.1%. 'Treasure Island' is not only dominating in ratings but also in buzz, leaving competing shows far behind with overwhelming figures.
In this episode, Seo Dong-joo (played by Park Hyung-sik) faced the secret of his birth and made a significant decision for his beloved Yeo Eun-nam (played by Hong Hwa-yeon). However, that decision became meaningless as another truth from the past was revealed, shocking both Seo Dong-joo and the viewers in front of the TV.
Earlier, Seo Dong-joo learned the secret of his birth, which suggested that he and Yeo Eun-nam might be half-siblings. Confused by the fact that Yeo Eun-nam, who knew nothing, divorced to come back to him, Seo Dong-joo decided to keep the truth hidden for her sake.
However, Seo Dong-joo desperately wanted to know the truth. Was it really Heo Il-do (played by Lee Hae-young) who killed Yeo Eun-nam's biological father, Yeosun-ho (played by Joo Sang-wook), as Yeo Eun-nam suspected?
Meanwhile, Chairman Cha Gang-cheon (played by Woo Hyun) declared his marriage to Ji Young-soo (played by Do Ji-won) to establish his illegitimate child Ji Seon-woo (played by Cha Woo-min) as the heir of Daesan Group, causing a shake-up in the power dynamics of the group. The eldest daughter Cha Deok-hee (played by Kim Jung-nan) was extremely furious, while the eldest son-in-law Heo Il-do, who was caught in a weakness by Seo Dong-joo, and the second daughter Cha Guk-hee (played by Hong Soo-hyun) sided with Cha Gang-cheon. Ji Young-soo and Ji Seon-woo also revealed their ambitions regarding Daesan Group.
In the meantime, Seo Dong-joo once again visited Yeom Jang-seon (played by Heo Jun-ho) to increase the pressure. Yeom Jang-seon warned Seo Dong-joo, saying, "You're just a goldfish that eagerly sticks out its mouth to eat when fed. No matter how hard you try to climb up, you're just the first goldfish to get the food." Seo Dong-joo retorted, "The one feeding you now is Seo Dong-joo. The first goldfish receiving the food is Yeom Jang-seon," standing firm against him.
It was a scene where the desires of the two men clashed fiercely. After Seo Dong-joo left, Yeom Jang-seon remarked, "That guy is better than his father. It's a shame to kill him," hinting that he knew something, which raised suspicions. Above all, Yeom Jang-seon's cruelty exploded, sending chills down the viewers' spines.
Afterward, Seo Dong-joo, who had been plagued by nightmares of a car accident, attempted hypnosis again. And the shocking truth of that day was revealed. On a night when young Seong-hyeon was in a car driven by Yeosun-ho, a large vehicle approached from behind and collided with their car. Heo Il-do, who was following in another car, received a genetic test result from the manager stating that "Yeosun-ho and Chu Seong-hyeon are biological parents."
Although there was a car accident, the young Seong-hyeon, who was awake, cried out for help towards Heo Il-do. Heo Il-do clearly saw Seong-hyeon but did not save him and returned to his car. Then, with a tissue in his mouth, he pushed the car with Yeosun-ho and young Seong-hyeon off the guardrail. Heo Il-do's car also fell off the cliff. The 11th episode of 'Treasure Island' ended with Seo Dong-joo crying out, "Uncle killed us."
After hearing Yeom Jang-seon's words, Heo Il-do shot at Seo Dong-joo. He had also driven Seo Dong-joo to death in the past. At the same time, as Yeo Eun-nam suspected, Heo Il-do also killed Yeosun-ho, who might be Yeo Eun-nam's biological father and Seo Dong-joo's biological father. Now, Seo Dong-joo's desire for revenge can only burn even more fiercely. The three actors Park Hyung-sik, Heo Jun-ho, and Lee Hae-young delivered an intense performance that was chillingly powerful, captivating the audience.
