YouTuber Shim Euddeum emphasized the importance of 'consistency'.
On the 28th, the 'MBN Y Forum', a mentoring festival for young people in their 20s and 30s, was held at Korea University's Hwajeong Gymnasium. The 'MBN Y Forum' embodies a vision for the aspirations of young people in their 20s and 30s to spread globally, seeking paths for personal and national prosperity and creating a hopeful world together. This year's theme for the 'MBN Y Forum' is 'Paint your Colors!'.
In the afternoon, lectures by speakers were held. The opening performance was by Song So-hee. Following that, lectures were given by Yoo Seung-min, President of the Korean Sports Council, mixed martial artist Choo Sung-hoon, YouTuber Shim Euddeum, founder of 'Red Helicopter' James Lee, group Le Sserafim's Heo Yoon-jin, YouTuber Mimi Minu, Deputy Manager of the Korea Railroad Corporation's SNS team Kang Ha-young, YouTube channel Tabb's Yoon Tae-yong, Kim Gyu-nam, and Yoon Hyuk-jun.
Shim Euddeum introduced herself, saying, "I really like the word energy. Many people see me as 'positive', 'full of energy', and 'physically strong'."
She continued, "I have an older sister who is 13 months older than me, and I was born as a twin with my younger sibling. I was born weighing 2.2 kg and immediately went into the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit). I was in an incubator for a month and was very weak throughout elementary and middle school. My parents used to say, 'If we add up the hospital bills for the twins, we could buy a house.' I never received perfect attendance awards and often went to the nurse's office or left school early due to illness."
She added, "I was quite good at running. Around my senior year in high school, a teacher told me, 'You should exercise. You have great potential if you do.' I was told that exercising could help me get into college, so I begged my parents on my knees to let me exercise. They were worried that it might be too much for me, but I am a woman who takes responsibility, so I said, 'I will take care of it' and worked hard to exercise."
Shim Euddeum was incredibly dedicated. She made continuous efforts to improve her weak physical strength. She recalled, "In the morning, when I opened my eyes, my body hurt so much that I couldn't lift myself. I exercised to the point of severe muscle pain, rolling out of bed to get up. My favorite day of the week was Monday. After the weekend, once my muscle pain had sufficiently recovered, I had to go down all the stairs at a really fast pace from Tuesday to Friday, fighting against muscle pain for 6-7 months. As a result, my physical strength built up."
Shim Euddeum also said, "Since I started exercising, I haven't lived a life away from exercise; I live my life within exercise. Because of that, many opportunities have come my way. I have never neglected exercise for a single day. I do a thousand squats every day. My dream was to become a 'healthy grandmother'. We are in the era of 100 years, right? Even if our bodies are struggling, consistency is the answer. I hope that this lecture serves as motivation, and when exercise comes into your life, my words 'consistency is the answer' will come to mind."
She added, "Rest is also important. I hope you can take proper rest and recovery while living healthily day by day. Please don't get sick and be happy," encouraging the youth.
This year marks the 15th anniversary of the 'MBN Y Forum', an annual youth mentoring festival held to inspire the younger generation, the 2030s, who will lead the future of South Korea. It is designed as a unique festival where participants can communicate, enjoy, and learn together, featuring various events such as archery, bicycle stepping, mini curling, speed pitching, and golf putting, allowing for both competition and cooperation while naturally fostering a sense of community. The goal is to move both body and mind together, discovering one's unique colors and embarking on a journey to color the world.
