Park Na-rae, Pung-ja, and Joo Woo-jae conducted an exploration in Hannam-dong, a representative affluent neighborhood in South Korea.
On the 13th, the MBC entertainment program ‘Save Me! Homes’ featured broadcaster Pung-ja, Park Na-rae, and Joo Woo-jae embarking on an emotional exploration in Hannam-dong, Yongsan-gu.
On that day, the red team was represented by Park Na-rae and broadcaster Pung-ja, who have lived in Hannam-dong and Itaewon for a long time, while the blue team was represented by Joo Woo-jae, who shared various stories.
The first exploration site for the three was a ‘model apartment’. This apartment, built in the 1970s, retained its retro exterior, including a rooftop chimney. The interior of the explored apartment was decorated with a hip living room that preserved the old sentiment, featuring various LP records and sound equipment. From the living room window, a small view of the Han River could be enjoyed, and the rooftop offered a clear view of both Hannam-dong and the Han River.
The second exploration site was ‘Hannam New Town’. This area, part of the Hannam New Town project that started in 2009, was the fastest progressing redevelopment area among the regions. With a relocation rate of 99%, the area was almost empty in anticipation of redevelopment. The three wandered the streets just before demolition, reminiscing about their twenties, and visited the Goblin Market and Hannam-dong Church.
The next exploration site was the ‘Pond Garden House’. This place, a representative housing complex in Hannam-dong and a symbol of South Korea's affluent neighborhoods, was originally built for UN dispatched technicians and U.S. military personnel after the Korean War. The exploration site featured a beautiful garden view, and the spacious living room was furnished with custom-made furniture. The beautiful garden had well-maintained landscaping and a barbecue zone, while the stylish and sophisticated interior of the house was impeccable.
The final exploration site was the ‘Mansion Apartment’. Located in Namsan Park, it is the only ‘hotel-style’ apartment registered as a ‘tourist hotel’ in the building registry. Although it was originally built as a hotel in 1972, it was later converted into apartments for sale. The remodeled interior was so trendy that it could be called ‘the standard of remodeling’, and the stylish interior added to the visual pleasure.
Meanwhile, in ‘Save Me! Global Homes’, which checks the global market prices of various foreign homes, they embarked on a global exploration in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Chiang Mai is known as a haven for digital nomads worldwide, and MBC announcer Jung Young-han went on a workation to Chiang Mai following his previous trip to Hong Kong.
Jung Young-han stated, “To enjoy a workation, it’s important to be in a place where you can stay for a long time,” and introduced that South Korea and Thailand have a basic agreement for a 90-day visa. He not only introduced hot spots where digital nomads gather but also caught attention by showcasing various accommodations, including guesthouses where one can live for a monthly rent of 120,000 won.
Next week, MBC’s ‘Save Me! Homes’ will air on Thursday at 10 PM.
