The desperate signal from the walkie-talkie rings out again. 'Signal' has confirmed the launch of Season 2.

On the 5th, tvN announced, "The drama 'Signal,' which received great love from viewers, is returning as 'The Second Signal.' We are entering full-scale production with the goal of airing in the first half of next year, which marks the 20th anniversary of tvN."

Aired in 2016, 'Signal' is a crime drama where detectives from the present and the past are connected through a desperate signal (walkie-talkie) from the past, re-investigating old unsolved cases. It received acclaim for its unique premise of solving long-term cold cases through a walkie-talkie that connects the past and present, the intense narrative of the past and present detectives' desperation to solve the cold cases, and memorable lines such as "The past can be changed. Don't give up."

As a result, the final episode of 'Signal' recorded an average viewership rating of 13.4% and a peak rating of 15%, marking its highest ratings ever, and it is still regarded as a legendary drama that made a significant mark in the history of Korean dramas. In this context, the tvN 'The Second Signal' (written by Kim Eun-hee, directed by Ahn Tae-jin), scheduled to air in the first half of next year, will reunite the trusted actors who led Season 1: Kim Hye-soo as detective Cha Soo-hyun of the cold case team, Jo Jin-woong as detective Lee Jae-han of the violent crimes unit, and Lee Je-hoon as profiler Park Hae-young of the cold case team.

Additionally, writer Kim Eun-hee will continue to pen the script, and director Ahn Tae-jin, who wrote and directed the film 'The Owl,' will take the helm. Since the previous Season 1 ended with an open ending featuring the survival of the long-missing Lee Jae-han, anticipation is already building for what stories will unfold in Season 2.

The production team of 'The Second Signal' stated, "We will prepare thoroughly to present a more entertaining and profound Season 2 to repay the love shown in Season 1. We ask for your great expectations and interest in 'The Second Signal.'

'The Second Signal' will be broadcast in the first half of 2026.
