Jeon Hyo-sung, a former member of the group Secret, spoke out about past controversies.
On the broadcast of JTBC's entertainment program 'Knowing Bros' on the 1st, Jeon Hyo-sung, actor Lee Sang-yeob, and Korean history instructor Choi Tae-sung appeared to commemorate the March 1st Movement.
On that day, Choi Tae-sung said, "I taught Korean history to Lee Sang-yeob and Jeon Hyo-sung. The 'Korean History Proficiency Test' is a really difficult exam. Only 1-2 out of 10 people can receive a level 1 certification. It's an enormous exam that many candidates take every year."
Jeon Hyo-sung shared, "When I took the exam, the levels were not categorized by numbers but by beginner, intermediate, and advanced. They were graded based on scores. I applied for the intermediate exam just in case I couldn't pass, and I got about 2 questions wrong. I obtained a level 3 certification."
She continued, "I made a verbal mistake 12 years ago. It was a mistake I made because I didn't know history well, and I was shocked at myself. I thought I was going crazy. I felt embarrassed and started studying."
Jeon Hyo-sung added, "I realized that if I just did it casually, I wouldn't study properly, so I set the goal of obtaining a certification," and mentioned, "At that time, there were comments like 'Then go get the Korean history certification,' which felt like a lifeline. I wanted to show my sincerity at that time. While studying, I deeply felt that I had made an absurd verbal mistake."
Previously, Jeon Hyo-sung caused controversy in 2013 when she appeared on a radio show and said, "We are a team that respects individuality, so we don't democratize." At that time, the phrase 'democratize' was being used negatively in the community 'Ilgan Best.'
Afterward, Jeon Hyo-sung was embroiled in the 'Ilbe' controversy but focused on studying Korean history and revitalized her image.
