In ‘That Guy is a Black Dragon’, Moon Ga-young and Ko Chang-seok promise a delightful father-daughter chemistry as a beautiful daughter and a beastly father.
The new tvN Monday-Tuesday drama ‘That Guy is a Black Dragon’ (written by Kim Soo-yeon, directed by Lee Soo-hyun), which will premiere on the 17th at 8:50 PM, tells the story of ‘Department Head Killer’ team leader Baek Soo-jung, who suffers from a first love that has become a dark history, and ‘third-generation chaebol’ department head Ban Joo-yeon, who lives while hiding his inner fanboy persona, the Black Dragon. The drama depicts a soft and sweet reunion of first love as the two, who met in an online game as children and became the worst of enemies, meet again at work. Based on the popular Naver webtoon of the same name by writer Hye-jin, the drama is a collaboration between director Lee Soo-hyun, who directed tvN’s ‘The Good Scam’, and writer Kim Soo-yeon, with a solid main cast including Moon Ga-young (as Baek Soo-jung), Choi Hyun-wook (as Ban Joo-yeon), Lim Se-mi (as Seo Ha-jin), and Kwak Si-yang (as Kim Shin-won), raising expectations.
Among them, Moon Ga-young plays the role of ‘Baek Soo-jung’, the youngest planning team leader at Yongseong Department Store, who is used to fighting with her department head. Moon Ga-young is expected to showcase her tenacity and independent spirit as a ‘professional worker’ who insists on saying that something is wrong, even if it’s a department head with a higher rank than her. Ko Chang-seok plays Baek Soo-jung’s father and hardware store owner ‘Baek Won-seok’. He is a character who shows his love for his daughter to the extent of being famous in the neighborhood, drawing attention to the father-daughter chemistry between the two.
In the released stills, Moon Ga-young is seen intimately linking arms with her father Ko Chang-seok (as Baek Won-seok). After work, Moon Ga-young visits her father’s hardware store, showing a cute and affectionate side as she takes care of him, bringing smiles to viewers. Her deer-like eyes express her heartfelt concern for her father, who works late into the night.
Meanwhile, Ko Chang-seok and Moon Ga-young present a fresh visual combination reminiscent of ‘Beauty and the Beast’. Ko Chang-seok, with his rugged beard and strong physique, exudes the reassuring presence of a beastly father, while Moon Ga-young captivates with her beautiful visuals, making it hard to believe they share the same genes. Although the two do not resemble each other at all, they are expected to show a strikingly similar mindset in their thoughts for each other.
In this regard, the production team of ‘That Guy is a Black Dragon’ stated, “In the drama, Moon Ga-young is not only a capable worker but also a daughter who has taken on the role of the head of the household.” They added, “Although Moon Ga-young and Ko Chang-seok do not resemble each other visually, their hearts are alike, and their father-daughter dynamic will add fun to the drama. Please look forward to it,” raising expectations for the chemistry they will portray.
The new tvN Monday-Tuesday drama ‘That Guy is a Black Dragon’ is set to premiere on the 17th at 8:50 PM.
