Archery legend players will showcase timeless epic matches.
The SBS Lunar New Year special ‘Legend League’, airing on the 29th, features South Korea's female archery gold medalists who achieved 10 consecutive Olympic victories, competing to determine the legend among legends. Eight Taeguk Warriors, who once held the title of the world's strongest, are grabbing their bows once again after retirement, drawing great anticipation.
The participation of Ki Bo-bae, a two-time champion at the ‘2012 London Olympics’ and gold medalist at the ‘2016 Rio Olympics’, known as the icon of South Korean women's archery, and Jang Hye-jin, who shone as a two-time champion at the ‘2016 Rio Olympics’, has become a hot topic. The two, considered strong candidates for victory, have identified each other as rivals, creating a peculiar tension in the arena.
Yoon Mi-jin, who gained fame as a ‘divine archer’ by winning two gold medals at the ‘2000 Sydney Olympics’ during her high school years (2000 Sydney Olympics two-time champion, 2004 Athens Olympics gold medalist), and Kim Moon-jung, who played a crucial role as a coach for the ‘2024 Paris Olympics’ in achieving 10 consecutive victories in women's archery (2002 Busan Asian Games gold medalist), are also part of this powerful lineup.
Lee Seong-jin (2004 Athens Olympics, 2012 London Olympics gold medalist), who showcased a sharp form comparable to his active days, and Yoon Ok-hee (2008 Beijing Olympics gold medalist), who added tension to the arena with game-changing shots, also boast legendary skills.
Joo Hyun-jung (2008 Beijing Olympics gold medalist), who shook up the filming site with her lively rapid-fire shooting and witty remarks, and Choi Hyun-joo (2012 London Olympics gold medalist), who returned to archery from being a commentator to showcase her powerful arrows, are among the players who contributed to South Korea's 10 consecutive victories in women's archery, raising curiosity about who will emerge as the strongest.
The commentary team also boasts a golden lineup. Baek Seung-jae, a master of sports broadcasting, and ‘the maverick of commentary’ Chimchakman add fun to the matches. Additionally, Lee Woo-seok, a gold medalist at the ‘2024 Paris Olympics’, provides smooth commentary that is hard to believe is his first attempt, showcasing a fantastic synergy.
Baek Seung-jae and Chimchakman are said to have been constantly amazed by the unblemished skills of the legendary archery players, even creating new archery terms that have never been heard before, bringing laughter.
As this is a gathering of the greatest archery players of all time, unique scenes were also created. Amidst the thrilling matches where the outcome was uncertain, an unprecedented incident occurred when the camera lens installed at the center of the target broke. Viewers can find out who the protagonist was that surprised everyone by recreating a legendary moment in South Korean archery history through the broadcast.
‘Legend League’ will premiere on the 29th at 5:20 PM.
