Comedian Lim Woo-il has won the Popularity Award.

On the 28th at 8:20 PM, the ‘MBC Entertainment Awards’ took place at the new MBC headquarters in Sangam-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul. The event was hosted by Jeon Hyun-moo, Yoon Eun-hye, and Lee Jang-woo.

Lim Woo-il received the Popularity Award in the variety show category. He said, “I was worried about what to say if I got nominated for the Rookie Award, but I didn’t receive it earlier. However, I didn’t expect to receive the Popularity Award. I want to express my gratitude.”

He continued, “'Radio Star' is a dream stage for comedians. I am very grateful to my senior Yoo Se-yoon for recommending me. I also want to thank the teams of ‘Frugal Man’ and ‘Men Who Clean the Earth’. It has been 15 years since my debut. I feel like I accomplished more in the last year than in the 14 years before that. It feels miraculous, and I am thankful for this award. I want to be a supportive figure for juniors and younger colleagues who have not been able to shine like me for a long time, encouraging them to hang in there for a month or even a year. I promise I won’t act up in the future. Thank you.”

The ‘MBC Entertainment Awards’ is an event that summarizes the entertainment, cultural, and radio programs aired throughout the year. Last year, MBC aired many popular existing programs such as ‘The Manager’, ‘What Do You Do When You Hang Out?’, ‘I Live Alone’, ‘Radio Star’, ‘Home Alone’, and ‘Thank Goodness for Resting’, as well as numerous new programs like ‘Class That Crosses the Line’, ‘Song Stealer’, ‘Frugal Man’, ‘Speakers’, and ‘Music Journey Born to Be’. Pilot programs such as ‘The Leader’s Side Dishes’, ‘Weekly Taste Research Institute’, ‘Hot Topic’, and ‘Reaching You’ were also aired.
