Singer and actor Hwang Min-hyun has hinted at a diverse acting transformation through ‘Study Group’.
Hwang Min-hyun will appear as Yoon Ga-min in the Tving original ‘Study Group’ (directed by Lee Jang-hoon and Yoo Beom-sang, written by Eom Seon-ho and Oh Bo-hyun), which will be released on the 23rd.
Expectations are high for Hwang Min-hyun's acting transformation in ‘Study Group’. He has previously taken on flawless and perfect characters in dramas such as ‘Live On’, ‘Alchemy of Souls’, ‘Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow’, and ‘No More Lies’, showcasing his stable acting skills. With his princely visuals, soft voice tone, and delicate emotional acting, he has steadily established himself as a leading actor.
In ‘Study Group’, Hwang Min-hyun will display a cute and clumsy side. His character, Yoon Ga-min, is a ‘study geek’ who exercises every early morning to manage his stamina because he wants to study well. Although he wears a neat school uniform and thick glasses that make him look like a model student, he struggles to escape being the bottom of his class despite his intense passion for studying, bringing laughter to viewers with his ‘clumsy charm’.
Hwang Min-hyun's action scenes are also a highlight of ‘Study Group’. This work marks his first serious challenge in an action genre. When he gets unexpectedly caught up in a high school hierarchy fight, Hwang Min-hyun perfectly showcases the ‘bright-eyed genius of fighting’ Yoon Ga-min with his dazzling action that contrasts with his clear and gentle visuals.
In particular, Hwang Min-hyun received praise for his impressive swordsmanship in ‘Alchemy of Souls: Light and Shadow’. Given the fans' desire to see more action performances, attention is focused on how he will deliver thrilling excitement and expand his acting spectrum in ‘Study Group’.
Meanwhile, the Tving original ‘Study Group’, based on a popular webtoon of the same name, is a comedic high school action story where the protagonist Yoon Ga-min forms a study group while diving into a bloody entrance exam at the worst school. It will be exclusively released on Tving on the 23rd.
