Actor Kim Yong-gun became the recipient of the Best Supporting Actor award at the '2024 KBS Acting Awards'.
Kim Yong-gun, known for 'Dog Barking', expressed his gratitude after winning the Best Supporting Actor award during the broadcast of the '2024 KBS Acting Awards' on the 11th, saying, "Thank you. It has been over ten years since I won two awards for 'Mom Got Angry'. I am overwhelmed with emotions. It was a moment to congratulate each other, but my heart is heavy. I extend my deep condolences and sympathy to the victims who lost their lives in the tragic accident and their families."
He continued, "It is a happy and grateful thing for an actor to take on a role. I thank the production team of 'Dog Barking' for giving me this great opportunity, and I appreciate the KBS officials for this award opportunity. There are many actors, and it is not that they lack skill for not receiving awards. Many actors are waiting for their chance. I hope they get good opportunities in 2025."
Additionally, Kim Yong-gun mentioned, "I checked my health while traveling back and forth to Geoje for about seven months. I traveled for ten hours round trip over several days, and I think we can do a season 2. I am grateful to the fellow actors who worked hard. At the center of it all was Lee Soon-jae, which gave me confidence and helped us finish the drama well. I wish for Lee Soon-jae's health and respect him."
The '2024 KBS Acting Awards', hosted by broadcaster Jang Seong-kyu and actors Seo Hyun and Moon Sang-min, was originally scheduled to be broadcast live on December 31 of last year but was canceled due to the aftermath of the Jeju Air passenger plane tragedy. The awards ceremony was recorded instead.
Nominees for the Grand Prize included Lee Soon-jae from the drama 'Dog Barking', Ji Hyun-woo and Lim Soo-hyang from 'Beauty and the Beast', Kim Jung-hyun and Park Ji-young from 'Iron Family', and Kim Ha-neul from 'Let’s Grab the Collar'.
