Broadcaster Kim Sook examines the Apgujeong apartments, a representative area of Gangnam.
In today’s (9th) episode of the MBC entertainment program “Save Me! Holmes,” actor Song Jin-woo and Oh My Girl’s Seung-hee will feature in a special segment on apartment complexes.
This episode is themed around the most famous apartment complexes in South Korea. To thoroughly explore the two major apartment areas representing Gangnam, Daechi-dong and Apgujeong, actor Song Jin-woo, Oh My Girl’s Seung-hee, and Kim Sook will take part.
The three will visit the commercial area of the Apgujeong apartments. The Apgujeong apartment commercial area, completed in 1976, boasts a 48-year tradition and is located on a road between apartments, not in a mixed-use complex. Kim Sook introduces it as “the origin of commercial areas in domestic apartments, with a demand base of 6,300 households and 224 commercial spaces.”
Kim Sook guides Song Jin-woo and Seung-hee to an old laundry. The owner of the laundry, who meets the three, says, “Since many celebrities live in the Apgujeong apartments, regular customers include actor Lee Soon-jae and the late Andre Kim.” When Kim Sook introduces, “They are famous for their excellent dry cleaning,” the owner candidly admits, “As good as they are, the prices are high.” He then reveals the surrounding commercial real estate prices and monthly rent, surprising everyone.
Next, the three visit a snack bar inside the commercial area. Kim Sook introduces it as “one of the top 3 tteokbokki places in Gangnam,” and they start tasting items like sundae, tteokbokki, and fried snacks. While waiting for the food, they reveal the wall covered with signatures of celebrities. As the signatures of famous celebrities are unveiled, Yang Se-chan humorously comments, “All those celebrities who signed live in Gangnam apartments! Let’s sneak in and write, ‘I’ve been a regular for 15 years’.”
The three also explore the academy area within the commercial space. Visiting a jump rope academy, they are captivated by the children’s impressive jump rope skills. The kids jump rope to the tune of Oh My Girl’s song “Snowball,” but Seung-hee feels embarrassed as they don’t recognize her song.
When the children at the jump rope academy recognize Oh My Girl’s Seung-hee and cheer loudly, Kim Sook asks, “Do you know who I am?” A little kid replies, “The person who called the apartment?” To which Kim Sook responds, “Rose? No way... Bruno Mars?” causing the studio to burst into laughter.
The special segment on the Daechi-dong and Apgujeong apartment complexes representing Gangnam will air on the 9th at 10 PM on MBC’s “Save Me! Holmes.”
