KBS2’s ‘Boss’s Ears are Donkey Ears’ Chef Jung Ji-sun and Executive Chef Shin Jong-cheol form a boss alliance.
KBS2’s ‘Boss’s Ears are Donkey Ears’ (hereafter ‘Sadangui’) is a voluntary program for bosses in South Korea aimed at creating a workplace that is enjoyable to work in, featuring role reversal and self-reflection. In the last episode, the momentary highest viewership rating soared to 9.3%, maintaining the number one spot in the same time slot across all channels for 135 consecutive weeks (according to Nielsen Korea).
On the 29th broadcast of ‘Sadangui’, Chef Jung Ji-sun allies with Executive Chef Shin Jong-cheol of a five-star hotel. Notably, Jung Ji-sun consistently expresses anger on behalf of Executive Chef Shin, raising curiosity about what transpired between the two.
On this day, when the process of inspecting food ingredients involving Korean, Chinese, and Japanese cuisine, as well as bakery chefs, appears, Jung Ji-sun states, “I think it’s a really good opportunity for the staff,” showing deep engagement and focus. In particular, Executive Chef Shin makes a bold decision to return all products if there is even a 0.1mm deviation from the 1cm thickness he specified for LA galbi, surprising everyone. Jung Ji-sun reportedly supported Executive Chef Shin by saying, “Even a 1-2g difference in dim sum is significant.”
Eventually, as Jung Ji-sun, who is overly immersed like a reality show panelist, repeatedly expresses anger saying, “We need to go harder,” and “I do more than the chief,” Park Myung-soo tells him, “You don’t need to get too excited,” urging him to relax.
