Hwang Seong-bin, a member of the group 82Major, denied allegations of connections with the far-right community 'Ilgan Best Storage (Ilbe)' and apologized.
On the 13th, Hwang Seong-bin opened up on his SNS, saying, "I sincerely apologize for causing discomfort and disappointment to many regarding my past personal account."
He continued, "During my student days, I liked the music of an artist out of simple interest. It was clearly my shortcoming that I did not properly recognize the weight of the message contained in that music at the time," and added, "Looking back now, it was a very reckless choice."
Hwang Seong-bin stated, "The rap at the concert was intended to emphasize the individuality of the members, but I failed to consider the weight of my word choices," and apologized, "I sincerely apologize for causing discomfort in that process to all the fans and everyone who supports the team."
He further expressed, "I am realizing how great the responsibility is as an artist through this incident," and said, "In the future, I will act with more caution and deep consideration. Once again, I bow my head and apologize to everyone who has been hurt."
Hwang Seong-bin became embroiled in controversy after it was revealed that he liked rap content mocking former President Moon Jae-in on the music platform SoundCloud.
Additionally, he faced allegations of 'Ilbe activity' after dissing a member who ran '6.6km' and '8.15km' on Memorial Day and Liberation Day, respectively, asking, "Are you an independence fighter?"
