Lee Chan-won has become the recipient of the Grand Prize at the ‘2024 KBS Entertainment Awards’.
The ‘2024 KBS Entertainment Awards’ took place on the afternoon of the 21st at the KBS New Hall in Yeouido, Seoul. Actors Lee Joon, singer Lee Young-ji, and Lee Chan-won hosted the event.
This year's Grand Prize nominees included Yoo Jae-suk from ‘Sing for You’, Jeon Hyun-moo from ‘The Boss's Ears are Donkey Ears’, Ryu Soo-young from ‘New Menu Launch Restaurant’, Lee Chan-won from ‘Immortal Songs’ and ‘New Menu Launch Restaurant’, and Kim Jong-min from ‘1 Night 2 Days’ Season 4.
The Grand Prize trophy was awarded to Lee Chan-won. Upon taking the stage, Lee Chan-won said, “I didn’t expect to win. In the past two years, I thought there was a slight possibility, so I secretly prepared an acceptance speech, but this year I didn’t expect it at all, so I didn’t prepare a speech. I will speak my heart as it comes to me. I first stepped into KBS 16 years ago through ‘National Singing Contest’ and officially debuted in 2020, and I have participated in many programs with KBS.”
He continued, “Recently, I heard people say that singers are not focusing on singing and are just broadcasting. However, I have loved broadcasting and entertainment since I was young. I don’t think I will ever give up being a broadcaster and entertainer. KBS has given birth to me, raised me, and even awarded me this prestigious prize. KBS is like my hometown, my family. I didn’t expect this award at all, so I ask for your understanding if my speech is a bit disorganized.”
He added, “This year, I greeted everyone through many programs on KBS. I have been with ‘Immortal Songs’ for a long time and have participated in ‘New Menu Launch Restaurant’. I am also involved in the newly launched ‘High-End Water Strider’ and ‘Celebrity Soldier’s Secret’. I am grateful to many people,” attributing the success to the production team.
He mentioned, “A lot of hard work goes into launching a program. Nowadays, there are not many regular shows, so there are many pilot season variety shows. For short recordings, the production team researches for as little as 3-4 months to as long as over a year. Receiving this award is on behalf of all of you for the hard work of Lee Chan-won,” and he requested a warm round of applause for the KBS entertainment production team and staff.
Lee Chan-won also stated, “I have grown a lot through KBS entertainment. I will continue to grow and show you good sides through KBS in the future. I am very honored to meet my respected senior Yoo Jae-suk for the first time, and it is a great honor to stand shoulder to shoulder with such outstanding seniors and brothers. While discussing who would receive the Grand Prize, Jeon Hyun-moo said that even if we talk, Yoo Jae-suk would receive it. I am happy and meaningful to be alongside such remarkable seniors and brothers.”
He added, “I received the Grand Prize, but I will not settle as Lee Chan-won, the broadcaster and entertainer, and I will bring you joyful laughter through KBS in 2025 and beyond.”
The Best Program Award, chosen by viewers, also went to ‘Immortal Songs’, which features Lee Chan-won, drawing attention.
