Actress Sagang sheds tears after receiving a diagnosis of 'burnout syndrome 97.7%' at a psychological counseling center.
In the upcoming episode of the jointly produced SBS Plus and E Channel variety show ‘Solo Because’ airing on the 17th, Sagang's visit to the psychological counseling center for insomnia treatment will be revealed.
On that day, Sagang shares, “I usually sleep very well, but I recently developed insomnia,” and adds, “I came to the psychological counseling center to seek help.” After meeting with the counselor, she confesses, “I haven’t been able to sleep well for about 10 months,” and when asked by the counselor, “Can I ask about the difficult times you went through?” she replies, “Please let it go,” holding back her words.
MC Shin Dong-yeop, who was watching this in the studio, offers a concerned piece of advice, saying, “There aren’t many opportunities to talk to experts. In such times, it’s important to be honest and share everything.” Hwang Jung-eum also lightens the mood by saying, “I used to sleep very well too, but suddenly developed insomnia last November, which drove me crazy. Fortunately, these days, I fall asleep as soon as I lay my head down.”
A little later, the counselor reviews the examination results and states, “(Sagang) is in a state of insomnia, and the quality of her sleep is poor. In particular, the ‘repression index’ indicating the suppression of negative emotions such as sadness, pain, and anger is high. The ‘burnout syndrome’ is also at 97.7%, indicating a state of being psychologically and physically drained due to excessive stress or pressure.”
Surprised, Sagang responds, “It’s true that it’s been tough, but I thought I was managing it well,” and struggles to continue, her eyes welling up with tears. ‘Solo Sister’ Chae-rim advises Sagang, “Moms have to be strong. Because we don’t have a dad, we only have a mom,” while also shedding tears, creating a poignant atmosphere in the studio.
After explaining all of Sagang’s examination results, the counselor encourages her, “Put down your burdens and take some time for yourself.” Sagang replies, “(After the counseling) I have homework to do for myself,” and adds, “I plan to take some time for myself and try things I enjoy.”
The next day, Sagang meets her close friend, actor Oh Man-seok. Seeking advice ahead of her acting comeback, Sagang shows Oh Man-seok the script for the drama she will soon start filming. In response, Oh Man-seok begins a special acting training session for Sagang. During this time, Sagang also mentions the truth behind the 2008 retirement rumors that once stirred the entertainment industry.
Sagang confesses, “In 2008, the ‘retirement rumors’ were unintentionally reported. On the day I was heading to the U.S., I was photographed by reporters at the airport, and due to an unintentional comment, the retirement rumor articles came out.” Curiosity is piqued about what exactly Sagang said to the reporters and the details surrounding the 2008 retirement rumors.
Sagang’s heartfelt thoughts that moved everyone, along with her playful chemistry with Oh Man-seok, can be seen in the episode of ‘Solo Because’ airing on the 17th at 8:40 PM.
