WJSN's Dayoung has marked a perfect solo debut by achieving her first music show win with 'Body'.
On the 23rd, Dayoung won the 'The Show Choice' for the fourth week of September with her new song 'Body' on SBS funE's 'The Show', claiming her first music show trophy since her solo debut.
Through her agency Starship Entertainment, Dayoung expressed, "Thanks to all the people who love 'Body' these days, every day feels like a dream, and receiving the 'The Show Choice' trophy is overwhelming and I am so grateful. I want to sincerely thank everyone who has worked hard to help me stand as a solo artist, the WJSN members, and most importantly, our fans (official fan club name) who have waited with unwavering faith. This album could come out, and receiving this first-place trophy is all thanks to you." She shared her heartfelt thoughts.
She continued, "I have thought a lot about my story and the sincerity I want to convey through my songs, and I have reflected on the past nine years. Just as I gained confidence on stage during that process, I hope that those who listen to my songs can gain confidence and courage as well. I have so much more to show as 'Dayoung', so please look forward to it and join me on my new journey. Thank you!"
On that day’s stage, Dayoung caught attention by premiering the performance of the album's track 'Number One Rockstar'. With powerful live vocals and diverse performances using mirrors and tables, she created the most shining moment on stage achieved through long efforts and passion. She then radiated an even more energetic and free mood with 'Body', completing her unique narrative and leaving a deep impression.
Additionally, Dayoung shared the joy of winning first place by performing the 'Body' choreography with WJSN members who made a surprise visit during the encore stage, as well as Cravity's Hyungjun, who is an MC of 'The Show' and part of the agency, and the dancers who shared the stage with her.
'Body' is the title track of Dayoung's first solo digital single 'Gonna Love Me, Right?' released on the 9th, featuring a rhythmic beat and catchy chorus combined with Dayoung's refreshing vocals. Dayoung has proven her remarkable growth through her distinct musical world as an artist and her sincerity towards new challenges, capturing the hearts of many listeners and marking a successful solo debut.
Since its release, 'Body' has made its way onto major domestic music charts, including Melon TOP 100, Genie, Bugs, Flo, Vibe, and YouTube Music, and is expanding its global presence with attention from major overseas media outlets such as Forbes, NME, and FOX 13 Seattle, as well as various MTV channels in different countries.
