YG Plus's global music distribution platform 'Mixtape' announced on the 16th that it has signed an agreement with the Korean Music Performers Association (KMPA) to establish a cooperative system that simultaneously strengthens music distribution and rights protection, allowing artists to continue their creative activities stably.
This agreement is significant as it goes beyond a simple business partnership, marking the first case of a copyright trust management organization collaborating with a global distribution platform. Through this, artists will be guaranteed both rights protection and global distribution, securing a foundation for long-term and sustainable music activities.
Both parties plan to promote practical support measures for creators, including ▲supporting KMPA members to more easily experience next-generation global distribution services, and ▲providing educational programs to enhance understanding of rights protection for Mixtape members.
YG Plus stated, “This agreement is meaningful as it helps artists continue their creative activities while encompassing a cooperative model that includes rights protection and global distribution,” and added, “We will continue to be a strong partner supporting the growth of artists and performers' rights.”
The Korean Music Performers Association stated, “Ensuring the rights of performers and creating a stable activity environment are key tasks for sustainable growth,” and expressed hope that through this cooperation, members will be recognized for their rightful value in both domestic and international music markets.
Meanwhile, Mixtape is a global digital music distribution platform operated by YG Plus, supporting everyone from indie musicians to label operators to easily distribute music worldwide. Based on YouTube Content ID, ISRC/UPC issuance, and a distribution network in over 190 countries, it supports both the continuity of artists' creative activities and rights protection.
The Korean Music Performers Association is the only organization in the country that protects the rights of music performers such as singers, instrumentalists, vocalists, and conductors, and collects and distributes copyright fees. Established in 1988, it has been actively promoting the protection and welfare of domestic music performers' rights, establishing and implementing various policies for the development of the music industry, and actively pursuing copyright protection and support projects for music performers.
